I feel its is wrong to judge the school only by labelling it as a five star or an ordinary school. Criteria sd. be based on the deliverables at each school. Expensive school could also be useless while an ordinary school can also be very good. The talks on holistic development have come to play only recently. Schools who are not good in academics have started concentrating on the holistic part. Or else why is DPS(VK/ RKP etc) still considered one of the best schools in Delhi even though the focus is mostly on academics. NO matter how much we may debate on holistic & academics .... academics will always take the larger share. We as parents would want the accurate blend of the two & in cases where they are not able to get thru the likes of DPS , they settle down for so called holistic ones. BUT Does our education system at large support the holistic approach.... this is quite apparent .... if my child wants to study in a specific school after class 1 or 5, he has to sit for an entrance exam...no matter how good he is in practicals theoretical part is given more weightage. Be it your school exams, entrance exams for professional studies ...IIT , IAS , CATS MATS etc. NO matter how good a school is holistically , no parent wants to ignore the academics for SURE. WHY do we always ask bout the 10th ,12 th results of a school, WHY Not achievers in sports, drama etc etc.
