Dear All

Pls give your inputs

Parents should wit till second list to know where they stand .

I agree. Will it be appropriate to form a group for discussion? I am suggesting this because, at this juncture a lot many queries and apprehensions surround this subject. A group discussion may obviate the arduous task of scanning the main forum for any valuable advice or suggestion.

If we go by simple logic and statistics , I think there are about 20 to 25 good/ sought after schools in South Delhi . There Cumulative/ total seats (excluding EWS and Management) would be around 1500 to 1600. With what i have seen , the seats left after the alumni and sibling categories ( left over for DRAW OF LOTS ) would be around 400 ( 25% of 1600) .

With number of applications in excess of 4000 in some of the schools ( BVN , Mothers , Gyan Bharti ) , there is no denying the fact that the number of seats available for commoners ( non sibling non alumni ) is about 10 to 15% of the total applications .

(1)So my first advice to all the unsuccessful parents would be to REALIZE AND ACKNOWLEDGE that they belong to the MAJORITY of the parents ( about 85%) who will / have not got admission in the school of their choice.

(2) My second advice would be to stop having a lot of expectations from the 2nd and 3rd list (if any). They will go first to the waitlisted candidates and quite a number of schools have a huge Wait list. So if your name is not in the 1st Waitlist , chances are very minimal that your ward's name will come in that school.

(3) Start approaching schools for the Management Quota ( MQ). Be Persistent , go in person , write mails . I can tell with 100% accuracy that not all schools charge money for these seats. In this forum itself , many parents have confirmed that they were offered seats from MQ in Cambridge NFC on the basis of their profile free of cost . Two of my friends secured seats in MQ in Indian and Tagore EOK last year free of cost.

(4) Block your seat in C grade / Mediocre schools / less sought after schools . With schools like Vasant Valley , Mothers , SPV , DPSs around we tend to forget / ignore the education given by these mediocre schools. They probably do not belong to the likes of schools that I have mentioned , but getting your child admitted to only the BEST SCHOOL is NOT SUFFICIENT. What matters more is THE GROOMING DONE BY THE PARENTS and the INTELLECTUAL CAPACITY of the child. You will see more doctors and engineers coming out of states and schools that lay emphasis on HARD WORK and PERSISTENCE.

Summary - Those who have been unsuccessful with the first list of the sought after schools are in a majority ( atleast 80% if not 85%) , so dont feel UNFORTUNATE . Keep trying " A river cuts through a rock not because of it's power but because of it's PERSISTENCE.'

This is a good suggestion

My Son's name is in waitlist for K R Mangalam, GK2

HOW TO FIND WAITING LIST ..I ALSO APPLIED FOR MY SON BUT DID'NT SELECTED IN DRAW

Dear All,

My name is Yogesh Nanda and I stay in Nizamuddin East, to ensure that I secure a seat for my first born daughter I had filled these many forms however forget about about securing a seat my name is not even there is the First Waiting List of any of the schools. My suggestion is for all of us to come together and file a petition with Delhi High Court . As our kids have the basic right to decent standard of Education. Our Kids need to accommodated in a school of our locality and standard. I have decided to pursue it in Delhi High Court if any one else wants to come along he/she may contact me by sending a text of WhatsApp on 9540738302.

They talk a lot of big things about Girl Child and First Born Girl Child but nobody is any different be it a boy or a Girl all the kids are the same. While browsing through the list I have noticed same names in almost a lot of school lists and the ones like us have our name shortlisted at none.

Yes Yogesh I entirely agree with you. My son my first born has also not got through any of the so called elite schools. I am entirely happy that he got through a convent as both me and my husband are convent alumni s and we are pleased with what they stand for. But then again this is wrong  and I believe they are working as a cartel here. There are certain names who feature in this elite list. I reside in South Delhi too.

An upset parent!

I am also residing at Lodhi road but did not get any seat except South Delhi Public School,Defence Colony.

I applied in :

Banyan Tree and indian school, fr.agnel, sardar patel , St.Anthony,St.Paul, Hauz Khas,Birla Vidya Nikektan,Hoy Child Auxilium but could get admission in SOUTH DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, DEFENCE COLONY ONLY.

Exactly.. I noticed the same.

These are the kind/invaluable words of Mr Varun Nagpal from the official thread

Few words of encouragement for fellow members (anxious parents)

Please do not get disheartened. This is only the 1st list. Many parents will soon finalize their schools and let go of others so the WL will start moving up. We are all in this struggle. It is so that some have to struggle harder to achieve their goal. But it is just a matter of time. Do not look at other selections and build up unnecessary anxiety. Let the unfairness of the system not bog you down at this precious hour.

Now is the time for action and not blaming the system which can be done endlessly.

Few suggested action items for parents:

1_ If you have selection in any less preferred school, block it. Any school. A backup will give you confidence to think clearly.

2_ Keenly watch the Waitlists you are on. Some schools (like St. Thomas Dwarka) have FCFS instead of rank for waitlisted candidates.

3_ Get your documents in order lest you are called for doc verification.

4_ Start considering NCR schools like Modern Deepali/Kundli/Charmswood/etc or any other suggested in the forum.

5_ For parents who have secured seats, a humble request to update the forum once you have done admission formalities, regarding the schools you are letting go. It will give an idea to other parents about Waitlist movement.

6_ Request to moderators and knowledgeable parents to update the forum with rules and process of withdrawal so that parents feel financial security while blocking a seat. For example, St. Cecilia has a very parent-friendly withdrawal criteria (they deduct just 200 Rs if you withdraw by 17th). If fee refunds are easy that may take off some pressure.

7_ Lastly, do not let any of this get to your child. Your tension should not reflect on your child. Every day I see my child innocently playing, totally unaware of our efforts and apprehensions (a way to realise what your parents have done for you once). May be we can learn from them and let go by being in the present for awhile!

I repeat, do not get into the psychosis of it all. We can not ascertain the reason or "luck" behind everything. As a community we can help each other in such dire times.

Best Regards.
