In International Schools, you have a choice of IB (International Baccalaureate) or IGCSE. In traditional school your choices are ICSE, CBSE or SSC.
IASL Criteria set for International Schools are
1. Transferability of students’ education across international schools
2. A moving population (higher than in national public schools)
3. Multinational and multilingual student body
4. An international curriculum (i.e. IB - DP, MYP, PYP)
5. International accreditation (e.g. CIS, IBO, North Eastern ASC, Western Ass. of Schools and colleges, etc.)
6. A transient and multinational teacher population
7. Non-selective student enrollment
8. Usually English or bi-lingual as the language of instruction
World school or global school should
• share the mission and commitment of the IB to quality international education
• have been authorized by the IB to offer one or more of our four programmes
• play an active and supporting role in the worldwide community of IB schools
• share their knowledge and experience in the development of the IB programmes
• are committed to the professional development of teachers.
The interdependent nature of the relationship between IB World Schools and the IB is a unique and a defining characteristic of the worldwide IB community.
Students opting for international boards and CBSE, ICSE boards have certain advantages over others from state boards. They have higher chances of obtaining top scores in SAT, ASAT etc. for admission into good universities abroad.
Schools with adapt smart class as teaching methods can be classified as modern traditional school and not international school.
But CBSE i has come with quality education with International standards.
Thanks a ton lathaaji for doing selfless service for parent community from last 4 years.
Thanks Lathhaji for the information.
But, i guess the so called international school in Noida (LVIS, TSRS, Millenium) offer only the CBSE, icse curriculum and do have some International accreditation. So does these school really make an difference in the child growth in comparison to traditional school? What added advantage an child in international school has over the traditional school except for the comfort-ability and some extra facilities?
I also read your blog on the CBSE-i curriculum and it appears to be the future of education system. Do you have any information about the school offering CBSE-i curriculum in NOIDA
@ Atul
It’s also worth noting that schools labeled “international" are not always such. It’s common practice in many countries (especially developing countries like India) to label privately owned, for-profit schools, “international” to provide a high standard of education to local children. Although these schools often do provide a more international-style education, the student body is not usually as diverse as you would find in true international schools.
Now in India lot of schools are labeled international just for attention and money making without serving the real purpose. Few schools boast since their facilities is equal to that of international they are international schools.
Again generally speaking
International schools are private schools serving mostly expatriate children (diplomats, multinational corporation executives, NGO staff), and usually some local families. Student population is usually diverse, with students from many different countries.
International schools usually choose to follow a curriculum model from the US, UK, Canada or Australia/New Zealand.
Many international schools also choose to run the International Baccalaureate program, which consists of the IB Primary Years Program, IB Middle Years Program and the IB Diploma Program. Schools which run all three are referred to as IB World Schools. Usually students from international schools attend top universities around the world due to the high quality of their education, advanced placement and/or IGCSE course offerings, and test preparation (for US universities).
The language of instruction is usually English, but you can often find German, French, Japanese or other international-style schools in major capital cities as well.
Hope now you can understand better.

CBSE-i is being projected an alternative to foreign boards like International Baccalaureate (IB) and International General Certificate of Secondary Education.
In the initial year of its launch, CBSE will allow parents of children who are studying in CBSE schools to opt for CBSE-i instead of the regular syllabus. And schools reveal that several parents are keen to shift to CBSE-i to give their wards an exposure to international syllabus.
CBSE -I has the essence of CBSE syllabus as well as international flavor.
Drafted by CBSE and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), the new syllabus will have all elements of the usual CBSE syllabus with additional sections in history and math. Even the mode of teaching and classroom exercises will mimic international curricula like that of IB.
In a class, the school can admit maximum 25 students and in the initial 2 to 3 years, they will be allowed to run classes in the same campus where regular CBSE curriculum is taught. Teachers have been trained to teach CBSE-i and the syllabus content is available with the schools.
Unlike the national curriculum, which comprised three streams -- science, humanities and commerce -- the international curriculum consists of languages, performing arts, visual arts, physical education, social science, life skills, research projects, sciences and mathematics. In fact, mathematics is further divided into core, elective and information and communications technology (ICT).
In Gurgaon DAV Public School, Suncity World School and Salwan Public School opted for
CBSE-I.
In Noida GIIS and DLF world school Greater Noida may adopt CBSE-I soon.
Dear Lathhaji / Dear All,
May I request you to please share your feedback/provide any insights in to the quality of PYP-IB teaching at Scottish High vis a vie Pathways (Gurgaon). While, we are more oriented towards SH due to fee structure, however, I would be grateful for your feedback on SH in terms of quality of teaching staff, justice to the IB curriculum (as many schools do not deliver as much as they claim) and most importantly inculcating discipline in the school.
thank you very much
Mr.Rajnath
You can ask your feedback from other parents in the respective school group.
