Now, several schools have uploaded their own guidelines but failed to mention the additional DoE guidelines

Several private schools operating on the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) land are still brazenly violating the Delhi High Court order by not mentioning the Department of Education (DoE) guidelines on their websites.

On January 19, the Delhi High Court had ruled that the schools running on DDA land could issue their own criteria but along with the DoE guidelines. Now, several schools have uploaded their own guidelines but failed to mention the additional DoE guidelines.

For instance, the Venkateshwar International School in Dwarka Sector 10 has uploaded the criterion of awarding 35 points to candidates living in a range of 3 km but has not mentioned anything about the neighbourhood criterion as outlined by the DoE.

The DoE had ruled that the candidates living within a radius of 0-1 km and having siblings in the school will be given preference. In case of further vacancy, candidates living within a range of 1-3 km will be given preference.

The St Marks School in Meerabagh and the New Era Public School in Mayapuri have also not given the DoE guidelines and has issued only its own criteria.

“As per Delhi High Court orders, it is mandatory to post both DoE and school-specific criteria. Parents can choose the distance slot in DoE criterion while filling the form but some schools have not posted the guidelines issued by the government and have completely changed the school-specific criteria. This is violation of the court order,” said Sumit Vohra, Founder of the admissionsnursery.com.

Meanwhile, in case where schools have posted both their and DoE criteria, parents have been left in a tizzy. “The Venkateshwara Global School (VGS) is giving 60 points to students living within 0-5 km. I am not able to understand which of the guidelines should I follow,” said Sumit Awasthi, a resident of west Delhi.
