It's very true that kids are very much intelligent these days. But for those kids who just turned 3 years at the time of school start, those kids i feel r too small to go for regular schooling. The small kids shouldn't be pressurized for regular studies, though a sense of routine should be created. I feel the age should be 3.5+. There should be less studies and more activities with lots of fun element included. Kids should not be pressurized for studies though a sense of routine should be created.
i also agree with somali and rashi singh view. The age for nursery admission should be 3.5+ so that the child needs to learn to tie his shoe laces, safeties to observe while travelling. A sencse of routine should be created by sending them to school rather than pressurized for regular studies.

the age should be 4 yrs for nursery but after completion of nursery next class will be first not k.g.
I tottaly agree with this suggestion. 4 yr kids are able to communicate better and should be admitted to Nursery. Two more points-

1) There should not be any class between Nursery and 1st class.
2) All schools must fix SAME Criteria. At present, some schools count age on 30th sep, while some count on 31st March.
Exactly. I completely agree with ur suggestion. The age should be 4+ and kids should go to first and not to KG. The date fore determining age should also be stipulated by the Govt.
I think that age criteria should remain at 3+, because anyhow most of the parents start sending their kids to playschools when they are 1.5 to 2yrs. What needs to be changed is the "teaching pattern and methodology" for these tiny tots in the schools and not the age bar.
Age criteria must be raised from 3 to 4 yrs so that we do not need to force children going to playschools at young age of 2 yrs.
I am totally agree with her. Why parents are insisiting for age to be 4+ when they thierselves started sending their kids at the age of 2+.
This is an absolute suggestion that the teaching pattern need to be changed and not the age.
I agree, 3 years is too early and I am not at all comfortable, to send my child by bus in the morning and then wait for him around 13:00 hrs to come back home. He still needs to learn to tie his shoe laces, safeties to observe while travelling, go to toilet without assistance, etc..
3.5 years or 4 years as on 31 march is the ideal age from parents point of view.
But this should be done pan-India or else the delhi students will suffer, when they clear their class XII and sit for competition exams.
I agree with Somali, For 3-4 yr olds, 6mth to 11 mths gap is way too big to compete. No school should expect the same performance levels from children who turned 3 as with those who are 3yrs 11-12 mths olds. Once the gap sets in, it increases as the younger kids develop inferiority complex, the feeling that i can't do it as my classmate is doing (which of course, he'll also pick up in mths). Human body has a patron of growth and by putting younger kids to test is putting unnecessary pressure on them.
Kids are smarter no doubt but let's just let them blossom as nature wants them to be. No child is 'slow' or 'fast' it's the standards we adults are putting them into. There should not be any rush to make them professionals, let them be and enjoy the growth and surroundings. Let them play and learn rather then write and do activities which they don't understand, or cram those lean thy poems or stories and having to deal with frustrating parents( who knowingly or unknowingly want their child to top the scores).
The age should be 4 yrs and syllabi's of all the schools should not include writing till the kids are 5. Let them learn phonics with rhymes, they'll form words with sounds. let them create with drawings and colors.
I totally agree with you Roohi on this. Infact i feel you have caught the nerve of this discussion. I wish our govt wud second on this and give it a thought. Our tiny tots need to be spared...
i think it should be 3 yrs because i dnt want my kid to go to playschool for one more year because 2 yrs studying in play school is of no use...nursery admission should be 3 yrs this yr atleast...i dnt want that she will stop gng play school because it is a gap of 1 yr which again is useles...so it should be 3...
