TOI -Parents confused over form criteria, wait for January 19 hearing

New Delhi: There is confusion among parents on whether they are supposed to fill forms again for some schools that have included new criteria, or be evaluated on the basis of old forms, with several schools choosing to stick to government criteria alone.

Many have also complained about the lack of clarity from the schools on their plans ahead. Though some schools have invited parents to fill forms all over again, there are several queries on admissionsnursery.com by them seeking clarification.

An interim verdict by high court on January 13 allowed schools to include their own set of approved criteria in the admission form, along with the one prescribed by the government on the basis of distance. The court is to scrutinise the filled forms and decided on what basis admissions must be made, following a hearing on January 19.

The decision has hassled parents who now have to do double the work, knowing that the trial on January 19 can go either way. They have also reported schools that have only used their own criteria in the forms. According to the information displayed on the website of a school, the neighbourhood criteria has been manipulated to grant more points to those within 8km and less to those beyond it. While it can be taken as the school's version of its admission criteria, the website makes no mention of the four distance brackets prescribed by the directorate of education (DoE) in its guidelines.

According to Kamal Gupta, the petitioner for private schools on public land that had approached the court against the DoE criteria, this is wrong. "Schools have been directed to use both government and own criteria in the admission form. They cannot just post their own criteria and ignore the one stipulated by the government," he said.

Gupta added that schools also must bring out new forms in case they want to start the admission according to new verdict, or can choose to stick to the DoE guidelines and grant admission solely on its basis.

New Delhi: Following complaints of irregularities in nursery admissions, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has ordered strict action against more than 50 private schools. Nursery admissions for the upcoming session are underway in private schools of Delhi.

On the basis of complaints received, over 50 schools have been issued notices for fixing “arbitrary” and “unreasonable” admission norms. The AAP dispensation had last year issued a list of 51 abolished criteria for admissions.

While 1,400 private schools in the national capital are free to set their own criteria excluding the abolished ones, the government has issued a fresh set of guidelines for 298 schools running on DDA land.

Earlier on Monday, Mr Siosida, who is also the education minister, slammed private schools running on DDA land for moving court against the new guidelines on nursery admissions saying the government had formed the new rules in accordance with a Supreme Court ruling of 2004.

“Ideally following the Supreme Court’s ruling in 2004 the guidelines for nursery admissions in 298 schools running on DDA land should have been formulated within three months. But it did not happen for whatever reason,” Mr Sisodia said in his blog.

“Now that our government has followed the court ruling and formulated the guidelines, these schools should follow them but they have decided to challenge a SC judgment before the high court,” he added.

The Delhi government had last month directed schools running on DDA land to hold the admission process till new guidelines are announced.

After keeping the admissions process on hold for over a week, the government announced a fresh set of norms making the distance of the school from the applicant’s residence a major criterion while considering them for admission.

sakshi i think, schools which are again asking parents to fill up the forms must be among 298 schools only, coz rest of the schools already published their own criteria. restriction was only for 298 schools, so i think only schools from 298 list will come with their forms again, if they do so

m i right ?

Yes Neelam

i guess TSRS also stopped  ,, or there is some link which is working ?

And also Red Roses Saket

Is red roses saket is also asking to fill the form once again

Hi all.  I need one assistance.

Is there any school in Dwarka which is not on DDA land and hence not governed by DDA notifications?

Thanks
