Feedback For 2016-17 -Nursery Admission Seekers - Modern Convent Dwarka

Hi... with the admission chaos at their peak, as parents it's obviously quite confusing to make up your mind on schools. I faced it last year, and hence starting this thread to share some feedback based on my own experience. Hope it helps some parents.

Modern Convent  - This is where my 1st born son studies. Hence the first in order. He got selected in lucky draw. In most of my interactions with their administrative departments, I felt, they largely go by the book.

What I like about the school :

a) Taking parent complaints seriously - There were couple of minor incidents on which I complained to school, and I must say the school gave utmost attention to those. I got call from class-teacher to understand the issue, and it was promptly addressed.

b) Balanced focus on academics - Contrary to popular perception, the focus on pure academc (like learning alphabets, sentences etc) is not very high, but at the same time it's neither ignored. I feel at initial levels, this is important. Nursery is first experience of kids with formal schooling, and in my opinion - there shouldn't be too much of pressure related to academics. The school takes out students for couple of outings during the year. There are computer classes too

c) Infrastructure - The school has good infrastructure, which most of you (who visited the school) would have felt. It's Non-AC. So those looking for AC schools, may want to discount it a bit.

d) Ample Transport facilities - the school has over 30 buses in its fleet. Transport is adequately covered

e) Money Minting is not their vision - Reasonable Fees - Tution fees is around Rs.3500 per month, and for a distance of about 4 kms, i pay around Rs.950 per month for transport.  The uniform, books are extra. Over and above this, I would have hardly paid 2500 during this entire year for other extra-curricular activities. I never felt, in any of my interactions, that the school wants to mint money.

f) Online Connectivity - Each student has a online profile, wherein the parents can see - what is being taught as 'class-work', the attendance record, pictures of activities. It also acts as interaction platform between the school and parents. You can write to class teacher as well as the principle. Communication is promptly responded.

g) Sports Day & Other Activities - Every month there are certain activities planned which help in learning through some fun activities. Sports day gives exposure to kids to perform publicly, and since the sports day largely has team-based activities, hence a good begining for the kids to understand importance of teamwork

What I Don't like about the school :

a) Student-Teacher Ratio & Class Size:

It will be great help thanks
Great help !!

Just to complete my post...

What I Don't like about the school :

a) Student-Teacher Ratio & Class Size: This is a major disappointment. They have 25 students in 1 section. However what they have done is 1 classroom = 2 sections. That means - its a class of 50 students with 2 teachers.

b) No Major sports/activity part of curriculum - Though the school has a good swimming pool, as well as skating ring, but there are no such activities at nursery of pre-primary levels. What I learnt is - there are activities organized after school hours by third parties. Though nothing wrong in activities being organized by 3rd parties; but it would be nice if some of these can be part of school curriculum, to give early exposure to kids.

c) Classes do not have dedicated maids - It's not a major concern though; but it helps to have dedicated maids per class. As of now, they have common maids serving the Nursery corridor.

Hi bindesh ji, very informative and good article though student teacher ratio is very high.. We were looking for a similar kind of school with a better teacher student ratio. Just wanted to know if this whole draw procedure is really fair?
Means a lot of hard work for the parents..ours is the first time so fingers crossed n thanks for replying.

Why won't a firstborn male child be qualified in Sachdeva? Please elaborate. My husband is going to go there tomorrow to submit form...

I'm sharing two documents here. 1st is Sachdeva school's registration form. It gives break-up of points. And as you would see - a child would get 100 points, only when it's a girl. I'm also sharing the school's response to my complain - wherein they confirm that they only called those scoring 100 points for draw. This confirms that only those who had girl child were called (at least that's what the school pretended).

Good Luck for tomorrow

Thanks for sharing the information! As Latha Ma'am has pointed out the school has changed the criteria which means I have to fill up the form again. I wonder how things will change now - there won't be much competition for staff quota but siblings, I don't know... Hopefully the chances of my boys getting through will increase now? Hoping for the best!

Refer the below link for changed criteria of Sachdeva Global no points for first born or girl child
