Agree with Shweta Jain's views.....Infact I would go a step further...

1) If equality and not heredity is the criterion as per RTE, alumni points should be scrapped

2)Sibling points....I think Delhi is the only place where there is a compulsion to send the sibling to the same school...not many states follow this practice...I am from Cal and me and my sister always went to different schools...just because its convenient for some does not mean that other students, especially first borns will be deprived.

3)Girl child....I don't know why girl child (with due respect to those who have girl children) should get a quota...in the top 20 schools or top 30 anyway the people applying are from backgrounds where ladies are educated and they place equal priority for the education of both girls and boys....so why the double advantage for girls?

4) I am in favour of the interview system....its in vogue in all other states...parents in Delhi argue that well...how can you test a 3 year old...the answer is 1) you don't need to 'test' but a principal by just interacting with the child can get to know a child's aptitude and fit for the school 2) Isn't the interview system way better...that way my child's future is not decided by a stupid chit which may or may not make it ever....its not in the hands of fate and atleast I have a chance in every school

5) If LOTTERY which I believe is an UNFAIR AND A BAD SYSTEM has to be persisted with then WHY give some a headstart...LET EVERYODY...EVERYBODY''S FATE BE DECIDED BY THAT STUPID CHIT

So in short this verdict is welcome but I believe if lottery is the way forward, just ensure that apart from distance there are no other concessions or points given....and then let's see....
