Nursery admission guidelines to come early

NEW DELHI: The guidelines for nursery admissions for the 2015-16 session may come as early as October-November instead of December.

"We are considering releasing the guidelines early to avoid clashing with board exams," says Padmini Singla, director, education. "But this is yet to be approved." Private school associations — recovering from last year's chaos — are hoping they do come before December.

"We were told in our meeting with the directorate — we had gone to give them our suggestions for the points-distribution system — that we'll get the guidelines early," says Ameeta Mulla Wattal, chairperson, national progressive schools' conference. "That way, the forms can be printed early and the process can be wrapped up within December itself." That, incidentally, was the system that was followed till a few years ago. "January and February are very tight months for us. Schools are very busy at that time because of the board exams," she added.

Last year, the process was stalled repeatedly by court cases challenging the new guidelines framed by the lieutenant governor. It was stayed several times and guidelines were changed mid-way leading to months of delay. Nursery draw of lots tend to be massive, disruptive affairs and require schools to pull in practically all their resources and arrange for security.

The Central Board of Secondary Education had to write to the directorate of education to not hold nursery draws while exams were on. It was May before the process was completed.

Hello Everyone

If you read carefully the guidelines were common for 3-6 yrs last year . but schools interpreted as per their choice .

Only few schools took till 1st grade on those guidelines.

It is certainly a very good things start things early and give parents enough time to draft their strategy. Hope they are formulating new guideline based on ground situation and drafted by experts unlike last year which created such a huge mess.
I am looking for clear guideline for KG admission too as that is what I need help with next session.
Wishing nursery admission is smooth next session.

But guidelines must come as early as possible... and concerns of all parties must be sortafter well in advance.... so that there will be no confusion this time as it happened in 2014-15 session
