NEW DELHI: The directorate of education has centralized admission of disabled children in private unaided Delhi schools even as the nursery admission process is almost over. In a circular issued on February 10 , the DoE asked parents to fill a common form online. The department has already uploaded a list of facilities available in different private schools for disabled children.
Parents can "choose a maximum of five private schools having facilities for the requisite disability." "The application form filled up by the parents will be sent online to the private schools concerned as well as to the deputy director or nodal officer," read the circular. After filling the form online, a hardcopy of the same needs to be sent to the respective schools with photographs and relevant documents attached.
"The schools, to which application for admission has been made by such a child, shall take the necessary steps to grant admission and convey the result of admission in writing to the parents or guardians and a copy to the deputy director or nodal officer for record within a responsible time (preferably within two weeks)," the circular said. Schools have to submit the list of all such applications received to the directorate so that they can be uploaded on the department website. Finally, "if any children with special needs... is not admitted after applying to the private schools mentioned in the lists, the parents or guardians may contact the deputy director of education or nodal officer to make further efforts to admit the child".
