After the Delhi High Court allowed schools in the capital to set their own guidelines regarding nursery admissions to some extent, Gurgaon residents are now trying to secure a seat for their kids in Delhi schools.
These parents, who are even willing to relocate to Delhi, feel Gurgaon schools are too expensive and too elitist.
“Despite the presence of inter national schools in Gurgaon, the re gistration and annual fees here is in lakhs. The fee structure of Delhi schools is still manageable. We are even willing to change our residence, if we get admission in the school of our choice,” said Rajan Singh Raghuvanshi, a parent.
As a back-up, these parents have already secured a seat in Gurgaon schools but have started trying their luck in schools located in South Delhi and Dwarka.
Gurgaon has plenty of schools which are affiliated with CBSE ( nor mal and iinternational study methodology), ICSE and International Baccalaureate ( IB) and the amount to be paid at the time of admission varies from ` 45,000 to ` 3,00,000 depending upon the affiliation.
“My daughter has got admission in a known and affordable school in Dwarka so we have decided to shift our base from Gurgaon. It is important that my daughter studies in a school with children from various cultural backgrounds instead of just interacting with children of expats and corporate executives,” said Brijesh Kumar, another parent.
Meanwhile education experts feel that what has attracted parents from the NCR region to Delhi, is the affordable fee structure as well as the willingness of the parents to educate their ward in a not-soelitist environment .
“Various schools in Dwarka, Rohini and Pritampura have caught the attention of parents from the NCR region since getting admission there is relatively easier. Gurgaon schools, on the other hand, are quite expensive and in such a scenario, sometimes even parents start to develop a complex,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com
