Sumit sir, please put forward our request to chief minister that schools should stop allocating points for alumni and siblings category. We general category people don't know what to do.we are not getting admissions any where. Please help us.

Dear Mr Sumeet

I have a daughter. For nursery admission 2015-16 we have filled up form for 11 school near by our locality. We reside at lado sarai. she is my first born girl child. All schools are within the radius of max 3.5 kms. Out of these 11 schools results of 10 schools are out. My daughter did not get admission in  any of these school Neither in 1st list or 2nd list. We as parent are going through a mental trauma that what if my daughter will not get admission this year. Her 1 year will be wasted. As a parent what more can we do , we both are professionally qualified, we were fulfilling all criteria like distance first born girl child. But to our surprise, we didn't had our daughter' name in any list of these school. Can you take up this matter with our Hon'ble CM and Education Minister. There are thousands of parents like us who are going through this nightmare of admission process. if am astonished that i am living in the such a national capital that our child future depends upon  a court battle.  I have never come across or seen such type of procedure in other states of India. why Delhi then?

When this admission guidelines were out in December I told my daughter" Now u will be going to a big school instead of your play school dear?"

U will surprise , being a tiny tot she daily asks me one question repeatedly when i return home form my office  " Mamma mera admission ho gaya kya (in her inncocent sweet voice)?  i always get fixed what should i reply?

This is all a mother has to say.

Pls. do some justice for our child. Its a sincere request from all parents.

Khushbu, you can try Gurgaon / Noida schools.... Alternatively, you may think of relocating to Dwarka which is a subcity of schools.... I hope for the best for all the parents and children who could not make it to any big school till date...

Most of the seats get filled by alumni and sibling quota.

In some schools all the seats were taken by alumni and sibling as they could score more points.

In other schools general category students are left to be lucky in lottery. 30 or 40 seats and more than 2000 applications.

We have never been lucky in lottery. What to do????

Dear Mr Vohra

Let me start with thanking you for providing us the platform where we can register our complaints and ensure that our concerns reach the right place for addressal.

Firstly, I would start with introducing myself.  I (Ms. Anu Raswant) stay in Mehrauli, New Delhi with my Husband Mr Kamal Raswant and my first child (my daughter) Baby Kanak Raswant who is 3 ½ years.  I work in the capacity of Executive Assistant to the Director General, with an international NGO which is into agricultural sector and work towards the improvement of Maize and Wheat in the world and their establishment which works towards the agricultural development in South Asian Region and my husband works in clerical post with the US Embassy, New Delhi.

Like lacs of other parents in Delhi we had also applied for our daughter’s admission in Nursery Session 2015-2016 in Delhi schools for which the admission process started end December inviting applications from the parents.  I will like to mention that since I stay in South Delhi ( Mehrauli) I had applied for her admission in 28 schools in the nearby areas including Greenpark, Saket, Malviya Nagar, HauzKhas, Vasant Kunj, Vasant VIhar, R K Puram etc.

To my understanding 28 schools is quite a good number hoping that we shall be able to make it in at least 5-6 good schools depending on the points scored.  Well, when we talk about the point system, there is no system prescribed by DOE, but all the schools have followed their own points system depending on their convenience.  These points are usually based on distance, siblings / alumni in school, girl child and first child.  Anyhow, I had managed to score good points in almost 70% of the schools on the basis of distance, girl child and first child.

Here, I will also like to mention that we had applied under general category in which almost all the schools have 50-80 seats available after deducting the seats for EWS, Management Quota and Staff Quota or any other reservations.  These seats for general category are then supposed to be filled up with lottery to be held at school as per the scheduled dates.  As already mentioned I will like to once again state that I had applied in 28 schools nearby my residence falling in the criteria of 0-8 kms.

I am very sad to mention here that despite of the fact that I had applied in 28 schools, and have scored good points in almost 70% of schools which fall within 0-8 kms of my residence, I have not been able to make to the final list of any of the schools.   I am highly disappointed and fail to understand the reason for this as I see no reason for not getting my name shortlisted in any of the schools.  Also, I am not convinced that my daughter’s name did not appear in the draw in one school out of the draw held for 28 schools.

Now, here I would like to state few facts:

Out of 28 schools draw happened for 5 schools only in which parents were invited for the draw.

  1. For other 23 schools we do not know if the draws were done, on what basis the names were selected, when did the draw happened, as these schools directly published the list of shortlisted students

  2. The 5 above mentioned schools which had conducted draws – we were surprised to see that out of about 50 seats (even more in many schools) available for general category, the draw was done for only 10 or 15 seats.  I again do not know as how and why the balance seats were filled.

  3. There is no reason given to parents for not selecting our child, no criteria explained for selections made etc.

  4. Many schools have decided to select the candidates without any draw, on the basis of their own school based point system, in which maximum points have been allotted for sibling / alumni (its even 20 or 30 points each in some schools)

I am really shocked to see that we have not been able to make it in even one school out of 28 schools, which sounds very disappointing.  Despite of all this, I had sent personal request letters with several follow ups over phone and email to school administration, but once again am very disappointed and regret to say that not even one school responded to my letters / email, let alone considering my daughters admission.

I would like to ask the DoE, that if we are a parent of single first girl child, does it mean that our child has no right to education.  If she didn’t score high points, and let me remind you these points are not based on child’s performance, she has no right to get education in a good school nearby.

Are we actually at the mercy of schools and do we need to beg schools for getting our daughters admission.  Despite of my several calls to schools am told that there are no seats left, but at the same time I see parents getting their wards admission through management quota or even brokers who are charging anywhere between 4-10 lacs for getting a seat reserved in Delhi Schools.  Even I was contacted by a broker saying that he can get a seat for my daughter as well in 4 Lacs.  So, what, if,  I have no money to pay to school or to brokers, do my child has to suffer and stay at home for another year as her parents could not pay bribes to schools and brokers for her education.

I am unable to express my disappointment in words here, but let me mention that as a parent who wants her child to get best of education in best of school in nearby surrounding, am having sleepless nights for past 2 month, have been stressed and nervous all through.  The only thing in my mind all the time is my daughter’s admission, which has now started affecting my performance at work also.

What sort of education system do we want to build in?

I apologise if I have said anything wrong, but believe me, my intentions are not to hurt or blame anyone, but as a citizen of India I wanted to apprise you of the situation of education in your country.  At the same time I seek your help and support in arranging good education for my daughter.

I may not have chosen best of words, flowery English to ensure that this letter reaches you, but am hopeful that I have been able to express my sentiments, my concern, my tension regarding my daughter’s admission, and also my expectation from the DoE, who has a prime responsibility to ensure that every child gets the education.  Also to ensure that this school admission doesn’t become a Trade Industry where seats are sold and purchased by the rich and the poor or medium class is deprived of getting quality education only because we are left at schools mercy.

With a hope that my letter will reach you and will not get held anywhere in between in your office or in the protocol system that may be followed in your office or DoE.   I have not furnished any school details or specific data as am not sure if this letter will reach you.  But once it reaches you I will be happy to come and meet you or your representative to share all the specifics and exact details if I am contacted by your office.  I just want to avoid getting into any trouble, with leak of any information giving my name or my daughter’s name as I don’t want to get into another trouble of completely missing my daughter’s admission if her name and details are shared with any school.

Apologies for this lack of trust, but I hope you will understand……

I look forward for your help and support in the matter.

Best Regards

 Anu Raswant

Hello Mr Vohra, Sakhshi & Latha,

I had secured admission of my child in Maxfort pitampura in last week of Jan 2015. But now I have got his admission in another good school which is nearby my house.

When I went to submit the application of refund for fees, the school first of all didn't allowed me to enter into the premises and told me to give my application at school gate.
After that they denied me giving the acknowledgement on my refund application as I had mentioned therein the amount of 50K paid to school in cash at the time of securing the admission. They asked me to remove the line that we have paid any amount in cash to school.
Although they are saying they will make an refund of the fees paid at the time of admission after deduction one month proportionate fees.
When I asked them to let me enter into the premises and talk to the principal or vice principal, they simply denied.

Please let me know if I can do anything about this situation. And also how they are justified in deducting the one month proportionate fees and take the development charges in core cash without acknowledging it anywhere.

Regards
Shilpa
