School helper held for molesting girl

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man, who worked as a helper in Presidium School in Dwarka Sector 16-B, was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly molesting a five-year-old girl studying in the same school.

Kamlesh allegedly molested the victim on several occasions when she would go to the bathroom, said police. The victim's family protested against the school authorities after Kamlesh's dismissal was delayed by a day and he was later released on bail on Thursday.

According to the family, the child on Tuesday complained she was repeatedly being molested by a cleaner. Shocked, her parents complained to the school and once the child identified the accused, he was asked to leave. "It takes some time for processing the papers. So technically, Kamlesh was removed on Wednesday. Men are not allowed to enter girls bathrooms in our school,'' explained Sarita Syal, the school PRO.

The parents, who were unable for comment, pressed molestation charges against the accused in Dwarka (north) police station on Wednesday after which Kamlesh was arrested. The girl's parents protested after Kamlesh got bail on Thursday. A senior police officer explained, "It is a bailable offence. Even if the parents agitate against the release there is nothing we can do.''

The victim is a resident of Dwarka Sector 11. Kamlesh stays in Nangloi in west
Delhi and is unmarried, said police. He had reportedly worked in the school for two and a half years.

Thanx for informing mam , presidium already have very bad reputation ,its money making machine
ohh god...is our girl child safe anywhere?
this is the case which has come out., may be there are several other cases done by the same person to other kids also, why people are so sick? Now even the schools ar not safe...we cant be there evrywhere..school authorities have to make a point not to employee any male for Girl's washroom..thats the only place where maximum cases happens.
Yes, absolutely true. this is horrifying .. schools are turning into a money making machine, not ensuring safety of children at all.. especially girls. Nursery kids are so small, they cant even ask for help ..and this will greatly impact their mental growth. Strict action should be taken by the schools.. I personally feel that male helpers SHOULD NOT be emplyoyed at all for such small children, and should be avoided for senior classes also..
same happened in shriram gurgaon also only 10-15 days back
Very Very bad and shameful act.
Thanks to Deepanjali for informing the fellow parents about the serious issue else some parents would have never known this. Maharam ji & Deepanjali ji this school is genuine has a very bad reputation starting from the play schools to main school. Teachers over here are not competant enough to take care of the children as more than half of them are under training of NTT which they are doing under the same organisation.
Aditi , Mr Vohra Has already given interview to one of india leading news agency regarding
unfair practices of earning money by this school (and its play school)that might appear anytime
This is really sick!!!!! I am really sad hearing these instances of recent past which makes parents more worried for their kids. If schools will not be safe what else place would be safe...... Strict action is required and as qouted " bailable offence " is not acceptable.

I think this is the time for the parents to take charge and fight to have more strict laws for the safety of our children. Else these bails and endless cases makes no impact to stop such cases........
Its Not a gender biased discussion, even a boy child is not safe. Recently, there has been a case of child molestation, where a girl and her two brothers were molested for over a years time by the driver.

The area of concern is, are we as a parent raising voice against it? We all should act like a sheath for our child, by getting involved in a constant interaction with her/his daily routine (when our child is not under our supervision). Reading your child's expression says it all, whether your child had a bad day or a good day. Children at such tender age need extensive care and protection via constant observation. They should also be told a bit about "BAD UNCLES" in the language which they understand. As, a prophylaxis we should try and make our child open up, where she/he can comfortably tell us whatever she/he feels
I also feel while choosing a school the utmost priority should be "Safety from all aspects". We should cross check with the school what all safety measures do they take? Raising concerns to the school by every parent will make the schools realize the VALUE of every CHILD.
I agree with u nidhi , thanx a ton for sharing news and link as you have been doing being in past also
