Parents in the Capital are going to be a hassled lot with the nursery admissions and the odd-even scheme both beginning on January 1.

While those who have to apply to schools accepting physical forms are planning to stick to those in the vicinity, some are planning to opt for online applications.

This year, three types of forms are available in schools: online forms, and the downloadable forms, which can be sent via courier or be submitted by the parents themselves.

Satish Jha, a parent, said: “I have identified some schools where the admission process will be online entirely. I cannot take the hassle of managing both my office travel and my child’s nursery admission during the odd-even days. It is already going to be so much hassle. My office is in Okhla and I will have to carpool with a colleague.”

Others are banking on schools located nearby, which they can walk to or take a rickshaw. “There are some good schools near my house. I am going to stick to those for my son’s admission. This way the chances of getting admission will increase due to the neighbourhood criteria,” said Pratibha Sharma, a parent who lives in Sector 14, Dwarka.

“Parents should plan the application process keeping in mind the odd-even scheme. It is better to first go to schools that accept physical forms as the online process can be completed later too,” said Sumit Vohra, who runs a portal on nursery admission.

Mr. Vohra also offered tips on filling online forms. “The online form should not be submitted twice since it could be rejected because of duplication. Don’t wait for the last day to apply. Many parents do this, which causes a server overload and leads to delays,” he said.

“Parents should note down the registration number provided after online registration,” he added.

Deccan Herald -143 of 1,737 pvt schools still running late

NEW DELHI, DHNS: With just one day left for the nursery admission to start, many sought after schools in the capital have not yet uploaded their admission criteria on their websites, as directed by the Directorate of Education (DoE) earlier.

Websites of schools like Cambridge, R D Rajpal, Apeejay, Amity, etc have no information about the criteria on which they will be selecting students for nursery classes.

The DoE, in its order earlier this month had asked the schools to upload all the information related to the nursery admission, including the process and the criteria, on their respective websites for the parents.

"There are so many schools and we only have their websites through which we can get some information. But, they have only uploaded forms. How will we fill forms if we don't know on what criteria they are selecting students," said Ajeez Khan, a parent.

No update

The schools had to upload it on their website along with submitting it to the DoE. While most schools have notified the department, they have failed to mention it on their websites.

Besides, even after repeated warnings by the education department and despite passing of two deadlines, 143 schools have not yet notified their criteria to the DoE.

The DoE had issued another warning on Tuesday to the private schools to submit their criteria; otherwise action would be taken against them.

According to data available with government on Wednesday, 143 out of 1,737 private schools have not given the criteria.

There is also uncertainty with the schools following different admission schedules and the experts have warned parents to make note of the dates.

"As all the forms are not online and some schools like some of the convents might not follow the schedule of January 1-Janaury 22, the parents should do the research properly," said education activist Sumit Vohra.

"Also, parents should note that there are three types of forms - online, which can be downloaded, and physical forms. They should first give priority to physical forms as they can fill online forms anytime later. They should also take precautions like it doesn't

get submitted twice, etc while filling them online," he said.
