This is ridiculous instead of giving points to the category they are giving direct %age quota for “Sibling” & “Alumni

Mr Sumit, I have this query regarding St. Francis school in Janak Puri, which is one of the very few renowned schools in Janak Puri / Vikas Puri. This school sells the admission forms for maximum two days and the queue for the same starts at 4 am; and they have been doing so from past many years. How are we going to streamline these kinds of gestures? It’s not possible for a non catholic general quota person to get admission in this school and frankly we have no other good school in Vikas Puri.

Hi Diksha,

you are right as the school being a religious minority institution is out of perview of RTE Act, so they are free to have their own criteria whatsoever suits to their philosophy.In St. Francis De Sales (for Primary Wing Fr. Peter Mermier Pre-School), 50 points weightage in criteria is for Catholics, so they have all chances to get selected here.see the criteria for this year (Catholics-50, Neighourhood-15/10/5, Sibling-15,Alumni-10 (Father-5,Mother-5),1st Time Admission Seekers-5,Single Parent-5)...its really difficult for non-catholic non-sibling/alumni general category child to get through here.However try your best as neighourhood &1st time seeking can fetch some points for you...forms timing this year is slightly relaxed as: 3rd&4th Jan2011-8AM to 2PM ; 5th,6th & 7th Jan-2PM to 4PM.

What if it’s in favor of Mr Agarwal’s petition, we would be almost through with the admissions by the time judgment comes. And when you say it would be decided on March 8^th, whereas the admission procedures are supposed to be finished by March 31^st, what if the age criteria changes after that? This is driving us crazy!!

I agree to you Diksha, we are also feeling like that only. What will happen ? Is this judgement for 2011 - 2012 admission or later one.

Hello Mr. Vohra

 

My son is 4+ as on date and studying in Nursery in a pre-nursery school. He could not get the admission last year due to the point system (as we were not able to gather any points other than distance) . I had applied in 10 schools but all in vain.

 

Could you please suggest that this year whether I should  try to UKG and nursery. Thanks in advance

Yes he is eligible for Kg (also known as prep) but all schools dont come with  vacancy

Then what do you suggest in such a case so that atleast this year I am able to secure a seat for him. I stay in Sheikh Sarai.

 

Do you suggest that I should apply for nursery as well in some schools so that probabilities of getting the admissions becomes more.

Thanks a ton for raising the age, neighborhood and first child issues on TV programs! You were absolutely right when you said that the admission age should have been changed to 4+ and also that points should be given for neighborhood and first child categories. I don't miss any TV discussion having you on the expert panel. Must say you are indeed very knowledgeable and have a great understanding of the nursery admission issue. Keep up the good work! We all are there to support you through thick and thin.

Dear Mr. Vohra,

The rule of getting admission to nursery class is to have age of 3+ as on 31st march 2011, 

I wish to discuss if this age of 3+ was to be calculated on 31st may 2011, then children in same class would be in a fairer age band as end may to mid july are summer vacations.

Though academically sessions start in april, if continuous academic months are seen, these start from july to may.as (end may to mid july are summer holidays)

Please suggest if this point may be persued before the nursery admission control board.
