Schools ‘interview’ kids, parents

Parents continue to face hard time as schools once again ignored the nursery admission guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE). Specifically, refusing the application of children based on parents’ qualifications and job profile. Many schools, rebelling against the DoE guidelines are interviewing the parents and children, while asking the families to return to the schools on specific dates for further ‘interactions’.
Father of a three-year-old from West Delhi area said, “On Saturday, when the Sapling School in Paschim Vihar called us with our son, we expected it to be a normal verification process. But we were shocked with the outcome, as the school authorities ended up taking a formal interview of ours”. The father added that the interaction seemed like a job interview and that he is scared if other schools too will follow the suit.
While the DoE guidelines were meant to protect the parents from such things, many parents feel let down and harassed from it. One such parent, who was called for an interaction said, “I had been called for an interaction session by a reputed school in West Delhi, as I had not taken my child for the session. The school asked me to return with my child. Although my child was not interviewed, his activities were continuously being monitored and the teachers took notes regarding this.”
Similarly, another parent from North Delhi area felt cheated, when a well known school from Rohini asked him to deposit `200 for the form. The parent said, “I have also been told by the school that I along with my ward will be called for an interaction after January 15”. The DoE guidelines clearly state that schools are not allowed to interview neither the parents nor their wards in any part of the nursery admission process.
Meanwhile, some schools have decided to cut short the time period allotted to parents for sale and submission of the forms, causing the parents to much distress. A parent from Nangloi area said, “I am wondering what the Government is actually doing. The schools are going on violating one norm after another. St Francis, Janakpuri out rightly denied the form on Saturday saying that they would not sell any more forms. How can they give us so less time for buying the forms? Has not the DoE mentioned in its guidelines that the schools are supposed to sell the forms till January 15”?
It is pertinent to mention that the time for sale and submission of nursery forms has already been shortened by 15 days as compared to last year’s procedure. Notably, St Francis School, Janakpuri has already been sent a notice by the DoE earlier in regards to violation of norms for nursery admissions.
Deputy Directors of Education will be present in their offices in every district from 10 am to 1 pm till January 15 to address the complaints of parents regarding schools flouting DoE guidelines. Parents can communicate their grievances through the DoE website.

i have filed the on line complaint against Maxfort public school in Rohini. but i am not sure how much it will be effective.

Maxfort school Dwarka also calling parents for Interaction....Is there anyone who can raise question from them...
we harassed parents cann't do anything

- Faith academy - charged Rs 175 for prospectus.the teacher told me that it is not mandatory but they've been told to sell it alongwith the form. they asked me to talk to the principal incase i had any issues. i recorded it on my phone camera but not sure what can i do.
- GD Salwan - 125 for the prospectus
- Faith academy - question about total monthly income for the household ( clearly intended to filter candidates)
- GD Salwan - Points on parents qualification - If IIT, IIM etc
- Bhatnagar international / vasant valley - asking both parents to be present for doc verification and also to bring the child along :)
- all the above mentioned schools ask about the profession of the parents ( while maintain there are no points for the same)
- Mater dei - forms were available only for 4 days..not sure if they have extended it now

sakshi its gud to complain if some efffect willl be there after lodging wen nothing will happen wht is the fun in complaining except arguing discussions and writing here we guys cant do anything hundred of times i hv written since jan 1 regarding point system tht first child parents r sufferers tell me whta happne dtill now...............infact many parents will be afarid now as process has already been started might be posbl tht our complaints here can lead to cancellation of admission..............this time its already very much troublesome and horrified situation of parents like us who has only one child...............as we r nt getting any points..........i m sorry i m writing this all but wht i felt i hv written.....

I posted a complain about Laxman Public School but dont know if it will be actioned on or not. They are taking Rs. 100 for the form and Rs. 200 for Submition of form.........doesnt make any sense.

I also agree with this every school like Blue bells,Apeejay,Indian they all mandat 225-525 rs for admission form.
They are really cheating with us.
they are not following any DOE rules.

I would like to share my feedback, it true that some schools like Tagore International School Vasant Vihar is charging Rs.100 at the time of submission of form although they charged Rs.150 at the time of selling the form.
Further we were called upon on last Saturday by Kids Play school (Junior Branch of Manav Sthali school) for interaction. The teacher were smart although they said its just a interaction but they took the opportunity to test child as to does he/she is able to identify the color by offering the child to pick up the toffee/candy of yellow color. further they offer here a toy and asked th color of the toy also they asked the color of the pullover he/she was wearing and all questions were asked in English. This was intentionally done to arrive at a decision as to does the child understand some sort of English or not. Further we are told to deposit the Registration Fees of Rs 45000 by 15th of Jan. I dont understand why they want to fill up their seats so early, while other schools are coming out with their first list around 1st week of Feb, Kids Play is taking out its first list on 15th Jan.

Hi Monika,
You are correct Sapling is the junior branch of Bhatnagar International and not Manav Sthali. Although both school are of Mr Bhatnagar.

I hv tried in many schools in dwarka, every school is asking between 250-500 for prospctus. like it is mandatory to buy prospectus in inderprastha international school,sec-10 costing rs500. when me and one gentle man asked for only form we were told to speak to school admin and at the same time cross was put in front of our name. so i didnt purchase the form bcoz there was no point of buying the form for rs25 or 500 as they had already cutted our name in advance.one more school RD Rajpal school in sec-6 , it is mandatory to purchase prospectus costing rs. 400 (Some 4 rs is inside the prospcts)..i dont no how effective it is going to be?... and also there are school for which the admission is already done in Nov like St marks ,janakpuri ..last year also they had closed there admision in september ......
