Hi Sonia,

My Kid got through DG Category ( special needs) last year so i can guide you how i planned the admission of my child and how the lottery system works:

1. I made a list of all the schools supporting special needs and went to each school personally to check the infrastructure of the school, met head of the special need teachers to understand how they work with Special need kids. Do list down all your Questions and ask the teachers. You need to take prior appointment by sending an email or phone call with the teachers.

2. Once i finalized the school than distance of the school from your residence plays a very important role. When you will fill the computerized EWS / DG form you first need to fill your complete address of your residence and after entering the address the form will display the schools in the below criteria

Schools with in 0-1 Km

Schools with in 1-3 Km

Schools with 3-6 Km

and above.

You need to select the priority / preference of school under each category. Please visit the DOE website and i think it has an instructions step by step to fill the form.

Admission shall first be offered to eligible students
belonging to EWS and Disadvantaged' Group residing within
1 KMof the specific school.
(ii) In case the vacancies remain unfill-ed, students res.ofnc
within 3 KMof the school shall be admitted.
(iii) If there are still vacancies, then the admission shall be
offered to other' students residing .wlth!n 6 KM of the
institution.
(iv) Students residing beyond 6 KM shall be admitted only in
case vacancies -remaio unfilled even after considering all
the students within 6 KMarea.

So the lottery assign the school to the child within 0-1 kms ( its a pure luck and last year i know few parents did not got admission in this category even after staying next to school)

If you think your preferred school is not within 3 kms range see if you can shift your base. ( It will only give you a higher chance to getting admission and not a guarantee). 

3. Ensure that you have disability certificate issued from Govt Hospital stating that the child has disability. If you do not have visit LNJP hospital. They will do it.

4. While filling the EWS / DG form it will ask for certificate number. If you do not have the disability certificate at the time of filling the form  than also no worries. Just select the option applied for. Disability certificate needs to submitted at the time of admission of your child.

My Son will complete 2 years on this 26th DEc. When do I start the processor for Nursery?

Min Age is 3 yrs for Nursery on 31 Mar of 2018

So your son would be eligible in 2019
