New Delhi, Nov 28 (PTI) With just a month left for the beginning of nursery admissions, Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely today indicated there will be almost no change in guidelines for enrolment issued last year.
"The guidelines will almost remain same as last year," Lovely said replying to a question on the issue.
Last year, the guidelines had given schools the room to formulate their own set of criteria for admission. This included points for having one''s sibling in the same school, being the child of an alumnus, first girl child and kids living in school neighbourhood among others.
The Minister said the guidelines are likely to be issued next month and the admission process will start in January.
Asked about the Delhi High Court seeking Delhi government''s opinion on a petition demanding not allowing schools to admit children below four years of age in nursery classes, he said government would tell the court about its position on the issue.

Government is delaying on a very important point of eligible age for admissions. The guidelines can change but the parents and kids are to be prepared for the school admissions and unless government gives a clear cut decision about the age of admission there would be lot of confusion regarding the admission process. Request the minister for an early decision and not wait till 14th December for the decision.
@ashish i agree but the case is sub judice.
is govt not aware what happened last year. again last year problems only sibling and alumni will get admissions
Can the forum request the NURSERY teachers of the schools to come forward and give their opinion about who is best suited for a mainstream school .... 3yr old or 4 yr old? And yes the children of the 2007 batch who were the 1st batch after the changes and are in CLASS III ..how r they coping with their curriculum? Teachers please come forward and join the movement.
@ Geetali Good suggestion
I wonder why every year people wake up only when the addimission process has to start.
This is something very basic like what should be the childs age at the time of addimission in formal school, why all this can't start well in advance may be as soon as this years addimission processes finishes, if somebody is so concerned. The rules like age and curriculam should be the same for whole of country not just delhi or NCR, kids in other parts of India are no different.
Government thinks Common man doesn't have any other trouble and problems to cater, so give them at least one by delaying the matter, and at Nth hour let them handle all the pressure.
Dear govt. we need to work and above all Parents don't get their pension started like M.P's get by just getting elected once.
so make it easy for Mango man. Whatever the decision is, convey it at earliest.
As expected.
Atleast now we have something in black & white to move forward. It will be difficult time for parents now for next 2-3 months but we don't have any other option.
It indicates the stand of Government.... No changes expected. Only a court ruling can change age criteria from 3-4.
Dear Sumit Ji
Pls do something... You know very well that if guideline will remain same then the parents not having sibling and alunmni points, will not get admission for their ward this year also..
Actually parents are worried about the age but not about the guidelines.. whatever will be the age criteria ..will not make much effect .. but if guideline remain same, lacs of parents will not get admission for their child this year also..
Dear All Parents
I applied in 21 schools last year but my child could not even got shortlisted just because I could not score any point for alumni and sibling.. There were other parents also who have gone thorugh the same situation.. All of you will come to know the impact of sibling and alumni points when the first list will be out by the schools but till that time we will be late...
Pls...... if someone can convey the message.. Pls ask lovely ji to change the guidelines for nursery admission .. do not give authority to schools to take the child at their own admission criteria.. It should be same for all the schools for all the kids...
