Parents told to watch and wait for KG admissions
Those who were unable to secure a nursery seat last year
Parents who were unable to secure a nursery seat for their children last year will have to continue their hunt for a school seat well into March/April this year as per the KG-admission schedule released by several popular private schools in the city.
While most claim that they may not actually open for KG admissions this year, others say that they will take in students depending upon seat availability which can be assessed only after the nursery admission are over.
Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan and Pusa Road, will open for KG admissions only by the third week of March. “Since the basic entry to the school is at nursery (3 plus) stage, there are very few windows of entry to the school. Most parents refer that the child continues in the school and we have very few vacant seats for KG then. Parents will need to check back with us in the third week of March to see if there are seats available for entry to KG,'' said Springdales School (Pusa Road) Principal Ameeta Mulla Wattal.
Most popular schools refusing to give out the exact number of seats available in the KG have asked the parents to follow the policy of watch and wait. “All the parents seeking admissions for the children to KG have been advised to leave an application at school and then wait for a call from the school,'' said Sumit Vohra, founder of the website admissionsnursery.com which is a portal helping parents seeking admissions to various schools in Delhi.
Schools including Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Sanskriti School and Bal Bharati Public School, Pusa Road, are asking parents to apply and wait for a vacancy.
“Most of the popular schools in the city are not taking in fresh admission in KG saying their seats are full with nursery batch promoted to KG. Besides a few schools that start admissions in KG for a child who did not manage to secure admission in nursery, seats are few and far between. Several schools like Delhi Public School, Springdales and Mother's International has not opened admission in KG yet. Some of them may have one or two vacancy in KG provided existing students in nursery withdraw,'' said Seema Kohali, who is seeking admission for her four-year-old daughter.

what about schools like Adharshila Vidyapeeth CD Block Pitampura who are starting their classes from KG but are admitting students from their Playschool Adharshila Vatika and denying other students a fair chance?

There are many such schools like Adhaarshila Vidyapeeth who are committing fraud and the Govt is not doing anything about it. Parents are also happy because they get a guaranteed seat if they go through their playschools. This way schools can run their playschools also and earn profits from it and take money through corrupt practices for guarantee of a seat in the main school.

AMITY INTERNATIONAL PUSHP VIHAR and DON BOSCO in south delhi are open for KG, Infact few school dont have nursery and they start from KG only like DON BOSCO SCHOOL ALAKNANDA near GK 2

Guidelines (though confusing) are only there for admission to nursery class..then why the schools need to bother for admission to any other classes.
Every school should have atleast 1 additional section of KG class to accommodate transfer cases.

THE GUIDELINES ISSUED BY DOE IN DECEMBER 2011 INTERALIA WITH NURSERY CLASS ALSO LAID DOWN SAME TIMELINE TO BE FOLLOWED FOR ADMISSION IN KG & CLASS 1. HOWEVER THIS IS NOT BEING FOLLOWED UP BY SCHOOLS. EVEN IF THERE IS SINGLE SEAT THE SCHOOL SHOULD COME OUT WITH THE DETAILS DECLAIRING IT AS MANAGEMENT/SIBLING/GENERAL CATEGORY SEAT. DOE MUST ASK A CERTIFICATE FROM EVERY SCHOLHOOL THT THERE IS NO VACANCY EXISTS AS ON 16/1/2012 IN KG/STD 1 IN THERE SCHOOL & FUTURE VACANCIES WILL ONLY BE FILLED UP BY ADVERTISING THE SAME IN SCHOOL /DOE WEBSITE BY GIVING ATLEAST 10 DAYS TO PARENT TO APPLY.

Rakesh: If there are only 1 or 2 seats left in KG, I wonder how the schools will be able to apportion these seats, considering there's a 25% reservation for EWS and a 20% reservation for Management quota followed by a 10-15% reservation for sibling and Alumni each. Don't see how the General people will still stand any chance???

I think it is all about numbers.
As there is no new section for KG so schools dont want to go to the hectic process by going public for few KG seats only.I think by default they are filled as management quota seats.
Again.........JIS KEE LATHII USSKI BHES..........School are doing what they want to do.

very well said and expected Rakesh...but DOE has not been able to stop the grossest of violation done on large scale by schools by selling the prospectus compulsory with the form at exaggerated prices instead of DOE's price of Rs 25..then how come they will check each vacancy in every school... hope DOE wakes up from KUMBHKARAN SLEEP

@ashu....DOE can only send the notices and go to sleep after that.
Last year i launched around 20+ complaints and met twice DOE but they have not done anything and school are contiuning the same show again this year.

exectly Pramod had DOE taken action against schools violating the guidelines..the process could have been simpler and more transparent..but then who will grease the palms as the schools and corrupt managements of schools do....
the irony is we are expecting these cheating, greedy and corrupt schools to give good education to our children and teach them the good moral values which they dont follow themselves..
