नई दिल्ली. 10वीं-12वीं के नतीजों में लड़कियों का लड़कों से आगे रहना कोई नई बात नहीं है, लेकिन अब स्कूली शिक्षा की भी शुरुआत लड़कियों के दबदबे से हो रही है। इस बार नर्सरी दाखिलों की दौड़ में राजधानी के स्कूलों में प्वाइंट सिस्टम का कुछ ऐसा खेल हुआ कि लड़कियों के आगे लड़के फेल होते नजर आ रहे हैं। ज्यादातर स्कूलों में 90 फीसदी तक सीटों पर लड़कियों का कब्जा है।
द्वारका स्थित सेंट थॉमस स्कूल की वेबसाइट पर लड़के-लड़कियों के बीच बढ़े दाखिले का अंतर साफ दिख रहा है। यहां चयनित 430 बच्चों की सूची में 10 से भी कम लड़कों के नाम हैं। स्कूल में अपने बेटे का नाम आने पर कुलदीप कुमार को उतनी खुशी नहीं हुई, जितनी निराशा इस बात को जानकर हुई कि उसके साथ बामुश्किल आठ-नौ लड़के ही होंगे।
कुलदीप ने जब दाखिले के समय स्कूल प्रबंधन से पूछा किया क्या कक्षाओं में छात्राओं की संख्या ऐसी ही रहने जा रही है तो कहा गया कि दाखिले के लिए निकलने वाली दूसरी सूची में लड़कों को जगह दी जाएगी। हालांकि, अब कुलदीप को पता चला है कि ऐसी कोई सूची आने की सम्भावना न के बराबर है।
कमोबेश, यहीं हाल हेरिटेज, विरला विद्या निकेतन और कई नीमचीन स्कूलों का भी है।
एडमिशन नर्सरी डॉट कॉम के प्रमुख सुमित वोहरा से जब इस अंतर के विषय में पूछा गया तो उनका कहना था कि यह परेशानी बीते साल से ही जारी है।स्कूलों ने पहली संतान व लड़की के साझा प्वाइंट को अब अलग-अलग कर दिया है, यानि यदि लड़की पहली संतान है तो उसे इस श्रेणी में दाखिले की दौड़ में शामिल लड़कों से ज्यादा प्वाइंट मिलेंगे। वह बताते हैं कि यदि यही ट्रेंड लगातार बरकरार रहा तो वह दिन दूर नहीं जब शैक्षणिक मोर्चे पर लड़कों से लड़किया काफी आगे होंगी।
वैसे, मेट्रो शहरों परे गांवों व कस्बों में प्वाइंट सिस्टम की यह व्यवस्था लड़कियों के लिए फायदेमंद साबित हो सकती है, क्योंकि वहां लड़कियों की तुलना में लड़कों की पढ़ाई को ज्यादा महत्व दिया जाता है।

Girls may be preferred by schools as they are easier to handle. Recently one boy has stabbed one teacher in the classroom . Probably the scary signal is spreading in schools campuses.

However, one boy stabbing a teacher, should not relegate all boys from school admissions...!, My sympathies for the deceased and their family, but I don't see my son at fault in this matter at all , & neither should the school authorities. Therefore that should not form the basis of deciding if boys get admitted or not!

It will help a lot in stopping Female foeticide specially in place like Delhi where the sex ratio skewed towards boys.

Those, committing such a heinous crime, killing own child before birth just because fetus is of a girl. Do you think he would have any concern for her education....Or he would think that he should not do it because there will be 10 extra points in nursery admission…!!!!!?

Girls may not be as physical as boys. But they're definitely not any easier to handle :)! If anything, I would find it tougher to handle a group of girls than a group of boys. I think a healthy mixture of girls and boys, naturally keeps them in check. As for stopping female foeticide for getting admissions in schools - it is too much of a stretch of imagination! If opening schools is the answer to female foeticide, states with worst sex ratios (thanks to pavan and poonam) have just been handed out a solution to the worst malice in our society. If only the solution were this simple. There is really no reason in an Urban society to provide more points to a girl child than a male child - except possibly to fuel the fantasy of our politicians to have a talking plank on education for the girl child. This is completely political and has by no stretch of imagination any relevance (at least) in Delhi

I agree with your opinion. I think people in Delhi are mature enough and have an advanced thinking. Giving preference to girls over boys while admission in school when they are just 3 yr old, doesn't make any sense. This is not going to stop female feoticide, because people having that kind of thinking would not change their views for getting an extra 5 or 10 points.
The kids don't have any idea, what their parents are going through and I think they are going to laugh in future and feel really surprised that they didn't get admission in a good school just because of being a boy child or because they were not just lucky enough. The system in schools in Delhi has become a chaos. I think Delhi's government should find out the system being adopted by other cities.

well, i have a girl but still i think this system is wrong. everyone should be given equal points and if the child has capability to move ahead and then no one can stop them whether a boy or girl. every one should get the equal right to study. if girls always given the priority, then it might possible ki boys will never come ahead.

I agree that its not correct to give girls more points over boys , but extra points for first girl child certainly is not helping parents with only girl child . I have a first born daughter and still not able to secure admission in any school till now .
I think till schools have free hand and till they are allowed to do whatever they want , we cannot see a fair admission process . Every school award points in their own way and some schools hardly care abt guuidelines of DOE .
