Nursery admissions likely to begin by mid- December - Amit Singla , Director DOE Hindustan Times - Oct 11 Pg 4

Mallica Joshi-The guidelines for nursery admissions may come out by the end of November and the admission process may start by mid-December. The Directorate of Education (DoE) is planning to give parents and schools more time to complete the nursery admission process to reduce stress levels. "We are trying to bring out the guidelines by the end of November. The process should start by December 15. We don't want to fit a lot of activities in a short period of time and hence the plan," said Amit Singla, director, DoE.
Last year, the admission guidelines were declared in mid-December and the sale of forms started in January. The schedule gave schools little time to plan other activities, such as printing prospectus, deciding points system and completing other administrative formalities before the sale of forms began.

The guidelines, meanwhile, are expected to be more or less the same as last year.

"Broadly, the guidelines and the rules will remain the same. We are looking at a few tweaks here and there to give parents and schools more time to complete the admission process. A situation where parents are forced to run to different schools on the same day should not arise," Singla added.

Last year, schools were granted a free hand to decide their own points system under the ambit of the Right to Education Act (RTE). All schools will have to reserve 25 per cent of their seats for students from the Economically Weaker Section.

To limit ambiguity only 20 per cent of the remaining 75 per cent seats were allowed to be reserved for the school's management quota. Interviewing or interacting with students or parents was also a big no as per RTE guidelines.

Nursery admissions in Delhi are a highly competitive affair with some parents saying it is tougher to get admission in a school of your choice in Delhi than it is to get admission in IITs or IIMs.

Yeah! It is difficult to get admission in a school of your choice in Delhi

Dear Like thinking Parents we have to stop this corrupt nexus demanding donations

in lie of Children admission in KG even supreme court clearly not to indulge in such

unethical practice first come first serve should be the policy and parents financial status can not be considred/or taken in to consideration admitting a child. It is right of the child of his/her coice school. Over population is mail malady of society and those taking this for their advantage should be curbed at the bud

DOE should remove all the flaws in point system face by parents since last 2 years. Points given to alumni , RAA and school specific criteria which leads to screening procedure should be abolished since it's violation of RTE Act. A uniform point system should be declared which can be followed by all schools. Should come up clearly with the uppe age limit for nursery admission. Ensure that forms are available on all days under the window period along with specific timings since many schools keep open for just an hour.

Yes Lathaaji  i second  you. Moreover  procedure for one month 2 yrs back from 15 th Dec to 15 Jan for the sake of parents

STRANGE !!! "THE GUIDELINE AND THE RULES will remain the same" THE DOE Directors, I believe, does not read the newspapers and do not watch Television. He is not even aware that parents are not satisfied with the points systems implemented for the last two year. Again schools will make their own rules with their own convinience........

Welcome back arti, U r spot on

Welcome back Arti. Yes guidelines expected are more or less to be same. That means they blindly follow the same pattern. DOE should try to rectify the flaws in point system. Even though DOE can't go for centralised admission process immediately  since there are more analysis and time it will take. Only if fee regulation is done first we can think of CAP.

But DOE can fix uniform point system and introduce common admission form in which parents income, education and occupation should not be asked before admission.

I agree to the point that DOE should decide on the points and should have a uniform point system, which should be followed by all schools.

Agreeing  to all, The DoE shud definitely do fix point system himself . This way all kids of same criteria  will have fair chance. And if 25% reserved for weaker section will in govt schools 25% shud not be reserved for non weaker sections. This partially made decisions make d admissions more tough.

I believe everyone is against the Reservation of 25% seats for EWS. Why cant we file a RTI agst all the schools to ask them that how many seat were filled last year agast EWS quota. As per my information lot many seats were vacant under this quota, which were either SOLD or left vacant. We can file a PIL that 25% quota for EWS is too much. Practically a person earning 1 lac pa can not efford to send his / her child to DPS or MODERN or Sanskriti schools. Ultimately these seats are given either to the management of school or to the person who manipulate their income to get the admission.

this is the problem we should catch. Getting EWS admission on fake docs needs to be checked. Schools are bound if a businessman's son arranges income cert. less than 1 lac which such persons can get it. schools are bound to give the seat if someone produces required docs from authorized agency.

therefore, anyone can get a seat in modern or sanskriti if he manages to procure docs. Plz suggest how can this be checked.

One suggestion: We can write to DOE director to declare the result of EWS before the result of Gen cat. so that vacant seats of EWS can be transferred to Gen Cat. Schools should follow the TRANSPARENCY in this regard.

We can also tell DOE to instruct schools not to ask other irrelavant information by the school in admission forms such as "are u associated with Aurobindo Ashram, are you the member of any social organization. etc etc. Income, profession should be even be asked.
