Shahzan Farooqi, a Class IX student of Summer Fields School, Kailash Colony, was not allowed to sit for his unit test on Monday, as his fees were not paid. His teacher “snatched” the answersheet and asked him to wait in the corridor.

Another Class VI student, Rishab Gupta, was also denied permission to take his exam. “Ma’am asked me to go to the reception and call my parents and took away my answersheet,” said Rishab. Students told Newsline that “they felt humiliated as the whole class came to know”. Parents said it was a “case of mental harassment.”

The school has, in fact, been threatening to strike off names of students from the school rolls if parents fail to “clear outstanding dues”.

“I’ve paid the fees according to the High Court order,” said a parent Abhay Jain. “The school has almost doubled the fees this year,” said a parent, Bunty Jain

Earlier too parents had protested against the hike,” said president of the Parent Teacher Association, Vipin Arora. They filed a case in the High Court after the school hiked the fees in July. The next hearing in the case is on November 17. Parents said since the hearing was due, the school had no right to hike the fees and fix November 9 as the last date for clearing dues. Around 400 students have been issued notices by the school.

“When the matter is in court, the school should have waited for a decision,” said Sachin Chaddha, another parent.

Ghaziabad:

Student’s ear drum damaged after teacher beat him: Family
Flouting the various norms prohibiting corporal punishment for students, a teacher with a Ghaziabad-based school beat up a 15-year-old student on school premises.

The student’s relatives allege that boy has become partially deaf, with no hearing ability in his right ear, as a result of the punishment meted out to him.

The student, Prateek Tiwari’s father claimed the boy’s right ear drum was damaged after an English teacher beat him for making noise during lunch break.
Prateek is a Class XI student at Swami Vivekanand Vidya Mandir School in Rajendra Nagar, Sahibabad.

“My son was blue when he returned home. He complained of severe pain in his right ear. The medical report shows zero hearing capacity as the ear drum is damaged,” Prateek’s father Vijendra Tiwari said.
According to Tiwari, Prateek was beaten as he and his friends were making “noise” and “disturbing” the teacher who was taking a class in the next room

Moderator-As yesrterday there were some problem in opening the link, today we could gather that these two episodes happen in two different schools

It is shocking that these things still happen. What is worrying is that the teachers have no fear of the consequences of what they are doing!! Does it mean that the schools are actually putting it under the carpet and ignoring as if it never happens. In case they do take stringent actions against the teachers, they should let every one know. This will bring back confidence in the school. The question is what recourse do the parents have?? Damned if they don't do anything and damned if they do !! Indeed I am scared that in case some irresponsible teacher does this to my children what will I do !! Do I have the courage and the time to fight through the courts ??

school cannot do like this.this is really ridiculous.government should must take some action about all this incident because in future it will happened in any other school also, and it can spoil our child career.they should be punished.
First of all I would like to thank this forum (Ashine) for the efforts they are putting in to make us aware of the happening in and around the schools. It not only help us to make some measure decision for our child's future but also help us to take some measure initiatives against all these things.

This is really a shameful act, I totally agree with Mr. Sushant, even I cannot imagine these things still happening in the Schools. Government should strongly take action against these schools and teachers.

Thanks once again
Thanks Rahul. Have logged in just now. Guess we parents have to be commandos. If the schools have made it a 14-year battle, do we have any other choice but to fight?

Mr Rahul, u deserve all the praise and thanks for making parents aware about their right to protect their children's rights. We parents must not give in to the bullying of schools. After charging such exorbitant fees, this is how they treat students for not paying fees of a month/quarter. Such banias they are. And then , listen to their lectures on values and moral systms at times of admission, annual days, PTA meetings etc. They need to get lessons about the value of providing good education before being allowed to open their shops.
Sushmeen, I m surprised. Do u expect the govt to stand up for your child? Wake up, ma'm. They simply side with the school lobby until and unless parents are ready to take them on through RTI and media

Hi Rahul

I really appreciate your concern and enthusiasm. My response was related to that particular post only. That's my point of view. But I will definitely raise my voice against this VIOLENCE. The question is not my baby only, my voice would be for every child of the NATION.

smita, u don't need to suffer silently. But before u take any step, u have to be very sure that your child's version of the incident is true and that he is not hiding the entire truth from u. Once u are sure of that, contact the school authorities and tell them politely but firmly that your child is studying there and u have no intention of or interest in tarnishing the school's reputation. All u want is action against the erring teacher (If the harm he/she caused to your child indeed merits action. U can't demand dismisssal of a teacher just for scolding the child for a justified reason).
If that doesn't help and they are still not willing to listen, then tell them that u have many forums available ---- DoE, media, and if need be even courts, ---- if they don't take action or try to harass your child for taking them on.
But u have to be sure u have the courage to go to any length to safeguard the interests of your child. And u have to make sure your child is not hiding from u wehether he/she had committed any mistake for which he/she was punished.
There is darkness below the lantern. But remember, there is also light at the end of the tunnel. Only, most of us don't have the patience to walk the entire length. Changing school is not an option because they all are the same.

sushmeen dear,
how do u plan to raise ur voice against this kind of school behaviour. pls tell me. My elder kid had same kind of experience and i am suffering silently to my see my kid getting scared of going to school on the days when that particular teacher has a period. i had complained about the teacher to the principal and they were not at all interested in listening to my talk and passsed me off a over protective parent and laughed at me. i am talking about the school (a top rated sort after) which booasts itself of high moral values and ethics sermoning idealistic talks to parents in PTMs. my husband is so agitated and we are planning to pull off from the school to safe guard our kid. There is indeed darkness below the lantern.

fellow parents pls guide me on this

Raj Thackrey of MNS and his supporters......thats the answer, either bring them here,or form your own gang and become the Goons.
and if u cant do that, just cope with whats going on,thats the attitude our history has gifted us,and thats the attitude we have inherited in our genes.
Cant we have a parents welfare association like residents welfare association?in every school,to take into account all the wrong doings of a school?
cant you guys approach fellow parents of the school thru ur child's friends?and seek their views and try to form a secret group to declare war?before u go to court SOLO,it wud be healthy to arrange support, though it wud be hard considering other parents wud first consider their ward's well being in the school.but u may try,may be u find other rebels silently coping on their own...

Hi Smita

I totally agree with Achira Jha, first of all visit the school again, talk to teachers and Principal about the incidence, know more about the the truth and then take any further step. If you feel that it was solely teacher's mistake, take action against her and if you feel it is your child's mistake then cooperate with the teachers.

I know being a mother it is very difficult to accept that it might be your child's mistake but for the children's betterment it is required to know more about the truth and the incidence.

BTW what is the name of the SCHOOL.
