Delhi schools demanding hefty donations?

New Delhi: In a shocking revelation, several private schools in the national capital have found to be violating guidelines issued by the Department of Education on nursery admissions.

Several parents have accused the schools including the famous ones of demanding hefty donations for granting admissions to their wards.

“The schools call us on the name of interaction session but later they demand donations ranging from Rs 35,000 to one lakh for allotting seats to our wards. In case of denial, they refuse admissions,” the parents claimed.

According to the Right to Education (RTE), any form of unusual monetary demand by schools is illegal and they are liable to face stringent disciplinary actions and heavy fine in case of any breach of the guidelines issued by the Education Department.

Sharing his woes, a student’s father said that he had applied in five different schools in Dwarka Sector 10 seeking admission for his daughter.  But all the schools have demanded heavy donations in name of development charge without giving any receipt or slip.

“All the schools have demanded Rs 35,000 for granting admission to my daughter. Fearing of getting exposed, they don’t even allow us taking mobile phones inside. So, I was unable to record the conversation,” the harassed father said.

“Lists for nursery admissions will come up on websites from Thursday. Many parents have registered their complaints against schools. Hence, eyes will be set on government’s measures to tackle the high-handedness of these schools”, said Sumit Vohra, founder of online parents’ forum admissionsnursery.com.

every parent who is looking forward admission for there ward is suffering from same problem. but seems there is no solution to it as of now.

Salwan Montessory School situated in Rajinder Nagar, Delhi harrased the resident of Old Delhi, they said the Sita Ram Bazar, Chawri Bazar, Lal Kuan and any other place situated in Old Delhi is not there catchment areas. But as per Salwan Montessoy School website there buses reach Kamla Market Police Station. How it is possible that Old Delhi is not there catchment area.

We are facing problem in admission of my child. He is our second child and we are living in Uttam Nagar. All the good schools are in either Dwarka or in Vikas Puri. We are not able to fulfill the points requirements in most of the schools as this is our second child and that too a male child in most of the schools applied by us we are getting only 15-20 marks, which makes it impossible for us to get admission in any good school.

My friend went to Ramjas school RK Puram to find out result. As per school notification the date of ist list was 24th january 2012 but it was shocked byhim that only guards and 2 staff were available and it is told that it is postponed to next week. Neither the school informed the applicants nor any intimation. One of the staff told him that due to some issues they had to postpone.  No one knows the scenario. Also, new development has come that within 1 kms. range candidates only get chance for ist list. He has to take half day leave to find out the list from school.

Hi,

What are documents require at the time of admission in general catogary ?

schools like maxfort are not even communicating the donation demand verbally. They are asking the parents to go in a CLOSED room and read their demand printed on a piece of paper leaving their cell phones and bags outside. What a shame ........
