Nursery Admissions in Delhi NCR 2026-27

Form Dates | Admission Criteria | Results | Fee Details | List of All Schools

I have had multiple discussions with admission councelers, parents, educationists etc. The discussion was whether to send my oct 2010 born daughter to nursery in 2014-2015 session. Though I and also her play school teachers feel, she is ready but I cant ignore the fact that if I send her this year she will be youngest in her class. She may or may not cope up. May be she does well in nursery but in later years she faces problems and even if she does well academically what about physical growth which is imp say in sports. There are chances that she may lag behind in some or other aspect if I send her this year. However confident I feel of my parenting, of her growth but the fact remains she will be youngest in her class. So I want all the parents whose kids are after sep 2010 born but still want to send their kids in nursery next year, have u thought of this aspect and if yes, whats your view point. I would also urge those parents to share their experiences whose kids are youngest in their classes.

Rachna, still in a dilemma between nursery and pre-nursery. If pre-nursery, I will go for MMI (nearby) & try in DPS/DAV/LVIS/Sun city etc next yr for Nursery. If Nursery, I will go between Shalom Hills, Shriram Global or Amiown (planning to visit trw). Did u visit Indus World? Your views on these schools.

I hv not visited IWS and no feedbk fr the same.. pre nursery admissiond also open in scottish high if u wamt to try ....

Hi, I visited IWS this Saturday. The facility is ok, but we did not like the day care. My take is that The Clay/Fast Track is much better than IWS for a play school.

The ERIC Digest offers a variety of suggestions for advising parents including:
• Be clear about the characteristics that cause concern about readiness for kindergarten. Don’t delay entrance just because the child is likely to be the youngest in class.
• Find out what the school expects and check the schools kindergarten screening procedures to help prepare your child before school entry.
• Find out about the nature of the kindergarten program. Lower class size and “learning center” organization can accommodate greater developmental ranges among children in the class.
• Consider what the child would be doing if they did not start kindergarten. Will they have available and affordable preschool opportunities?

In my opinion don't just consider entry age. Consider age in class 1 and class 12. Ideal age for class 1 entry is 5 years and 12th passing is 17 years. DoNt think being youngest in class is a problem. In starting classes don't put pressure or any expectation from child anyway. In later years one or even 2 years age difference doesn't matter neither in academics nor in sports.
Montessori method even recommends to teach child of 3-6 years age in same class.

My son is Dec. 2010 born and initially I didn't plan for his nursery admission for 2014-15 session but the problem is all the good schools in Indirapuram area are taking kids between 3 to 4 yrs so next year he will be over aged and not eligible for Nursery admission so I decided to go for this yr.

One of the Nursery teacher I had discussion with on this topic, shared her view that it is good for child overall growth to have a mix up. She gave couple of examples on that like if you have an older children in class, the younger child learns conversation faster...from same age children, he won't be getting good replies and all that.

Still I feel that..min age for nursery admission should be 3 and half..and should be uniform everywhere..all over the country to have a fair competition putting less pressure on a 3 yr old child.

I am not sure why parents and school sees even pre-primary classes as a competition. In initial years let them enjoy and learn without being competitive. In senior classes age difference doesn't matter much in performance. For one year difference there is no difference overall in later years. For 2 and more year age difference, it makes very less impact on academics and activity but child in different stage of biological development (puberty etc) so child feels awkward many times.
Don't worry 3+ year is best age to start nursery as child will be 5 in first and will pass 12th before being adult.

Most important question is : Is your child ready or will be ready for nursery by the time school starts. If not better take time otherwise it is right age. For judging that see if he/she speaks properly. Teach her colors, animals, shapes, alphabets and observe how well she responds. Consult with preschool teacher about your child progress.

Hello Friends... this discussion is a great platform to actually understand the needs of our child and the right age and time to send them to school. My son is January 3, 2011 born, so he will be 3 years and 3 months for the session 2014-2015. I had applied for his admission in two schools for nursery 1. Cambridge Noida and 2. Bal Bharti Noida. we could not get through in Bal bharti and waiting for cambridge results.

If not selected this year, we will be left with only one option i.e. to try next year.

My concern is as my son will be 4 years and 3 months in the session of 2015-2016... i hope he doesnt feel odd one out as he will probably the most eldest among all the kids in his class. Not sure what to do... if admitted this year he will save on one year in his academics and if next year we will have a better choice of schools to apply for and he will also develop a better understanding of things.

Please guide...

@ Venus it would be wise if you get admission in any school this year itself. Apart from this you try in other schools too.

Hello Shikha,

My son is also Feb 2011 born and we got him admitted to Amity Noida for 2014 Nursery batch, though currently he is going to Pre-School this year.

You should refer to the below article, which I believe should address your concerns:
