Nursery admissions in Delhi will not begin on January 15 as some private schools on Monday moved the Delhi high court against the new guidelines, terming them illegal and arbitrary.
Some unaided private schools challenged a single-judge bench order that had on January 10 refused to stay the government notification setting down criteria for admissions.
The new norms were issued by lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung last month. Unaided private schools are those who do not get government grant.
The city has around 1.25 lakh nursery seats as against almost 1.50 lakh applicants. The top 50 schools get most applications even as seats remain vacant in the remaining 1,000 schools.
While it refused to stay the new guidelines, a division bench of justice Pradeep Nandrajog and justice Jayant Nath indicated that certain admission guidelines needed a "re-look".
“This (petition) needs detailed hearing. We are simply deferring the hearing without any order," the bench said. The Delhi government assured the court that it would not commence the admission process on January 15 and wait for its order.AS ADMISSIONS WONT START FROM 15JAN ,WILL DEPEND ON JUDGEMENT OF COURTS ON 15 JAN.

Does this mean that Schools are free to form their own guidelines as their are no stay on the process until its next hearing on Jan15 2014?
Hi, can anyone confirm is it correct? i can't find any news related to re-schedule of nursery admissions. This is really ridiculous, i already applied for leave.
Request NA to gather the complete information and share with all of us. As most of the parents are working and have applied for leave.
Kindly confirm. Thanks
Wonderful, amazing news! This is India where you can not expect your expectations come true. At the 11th hour, this judgement is heartening, but let us see what is going to benefit the school lobby. Hope mgmt. quota will come back. I support mgmt quota for my different justifications. I don't mind criticism for advocating mgmt quota.
it is wrong to say that mgmt quota invite donations. Anyway the final judgement should be such which benefits majority.
This is so bad....
Just at the last moment... one get to hear this...
I had planned so many things in advance.....
earlier dates were shifted from 1st to 15th and now..?
The admissions not starting from 15th... are they starting from16th?
Means the forms will not be available from 15th jan?? This is very frustrating and difficult now delhi admissions..
Nitesh, you are right,. theek hi to kaha he jiski lathi uski bhains. But u know we see things from our attitude and seldom forget that a coin has two sides. Here in democracy everyone has freedom to fight for one's right. We are fighting for our cause, schools are fighting for their cause.
If this stay is for the sake of mgmt quota, then i agree with the schools and don;t agree that this will invite donations. Schools have no right to admit their relatives children if not getting under any of the criteria devised by the Dte of Edn. It is their school, they should be given autonomy for considering requests of some one special to them. Yes, just limit this autonomy. Once they are admitting 25% EWS, then what else parents need. I favour mgmt quota.
