NEW DELHI: Confusion and complaints regarding nursery admissions continue as schools have included upper-age limit and a variety of other criteria in their forms. Parents fear that with the delays, if the last date for submission isn't changed, they won't have enough time to complete the process. Parents in EWS category, for whom most of the paperwork is offline, are particularly troubled. Activists want the form submission part to be centralized at least for this category.

Parents collecting forms from minority schools were surprised by some of the fields they were asked to fill. A parent who collected a form for sibling case from Mount Carmel wrote to admissionsnursery.com saying the form has school has included in its parameters four options of age (three, three-and-quarter, three-and-half and four-years), distance criteria are different from general category for siblings and the form also asks the degree of proficiency in English and if the parent has helped the school in any way. Interestingly, the applicant's chances are better if the sibling has a favourable report from the class teacher. If the older sibling has been regular in class, been performing well, is emotionally "well-adjusted" and if the parents have been regular to parent-teacher-meetings, the younger sibling's chances of getting admission improve.

At many schools, once again, there are upper-age limits and at several others, parents are being "forced" to buy prospectus. Another school is granting five points to working mothers and kids of policemen. "Whenever autonomy is granted to schools, it is misused. Minority schools can admit students according to their own procedure as long as it is transparent. But some schools are asking sibling category applicants whether they have contributed monetarily in past," says admissionsnursery.com's Sumit Vohra.

The problems faced by parents applying in the EWS category are different. "We have come across many parents who, when they went to submit their forms, were told their document set was missing some certificate or the other," says Rajiv Kumar of NGO Pardarshita which facilitates the process for many parents. "They may register complaint online or call the helpline. The status of online complaints is typically 'forwarded'. The submission problems can be solved permanently if the authorities would centralize the submission process," says Kumar, "Let the parents submit to the education officer of their zone and let him forward valid applications to the relevant schools in his jurisdiction. That way, at least, most parents will be able to participate in the draw."

it adds to more confusion in a matter which is already has too much confusions

hi ..just got a call that schools has started selling admission form today or they are available for online registration........

tried for few schools but unable to get any such school...........can any one please let me know if this is true or again someone playing with parents sentiments.......................

today is sunday so i think no school is selling the form and you might have got some hoax call.....somebody is playing dirty joke...shameful....

When are they expected to start selling admission forms? tomorrow?

tomorrow the verdict of high court is expected and hpe they will start selling forms after the judgement but pvt schools further threatened that if judgement will not come as per there wishes they can move to supreme court.... which may delay the admission provess further...

This is really depressing. .. Even the new government which is famous for making big big claims isn't doing anything. Looks like the minority schools are playing politics instead of focussing on education. It would be better if these institutions just stop admitting students of different religions instead of doing partiality amongst children. These so called minority institutions should be under RTE , these shools should not be allowed to change the rules or criteria, they should be only allowed to reserve seats for minority students.

100% agree with you......

How can they change age or distance .they shd only be alowed to fix some minority quota. sumitji can wr still do something abt it

IIRC a newspaper/online news portal  had reported that: For Christian students the minority schools can have their own criteria for admission but for non-Christians they have to follow DOE guidelines/wait for HC order.

Unless we have the Copy of Hon'ble HC order in open domain, these schools will keep on interpreting the speaking order passed by the Hon'ble judge according to their own convenience.

Does anyone have the Order copy ???

NGO/Association representing Parenst should always press for a Dasti Order to be provided for clarity.

Please find the details of St Anthony school in HAUZ KHAS... They have their own set of rules. General category living beyon 5 kms have no points at all...
