You can see 30% increase in seats for general after management quota is removed as per the new guidelines.
Thanks !
Latha ji even then the problem is aggravating. Your experience is definitely praiseworthy being an educationist. Plz help DIL se to improve our education system. You know Mr. Vohra is not from Education sector and still fighting unstoppable. To what I saw so far, your inputs are liked by majority, thereby you are valuable asset.
My issue is not with school but with the "not so well thought of system" by people who have been empowered to make these policies and systems. why not have reserved quota for siblings so they too go through voting . if 20 points are for siblings then why wasn't the first child thought of ? every one needs a fair opportunity then why not single child. there should be preference to siblings but with a line drawn and quota for them after which they should automaticity come in general category. its absolutely the same concept being used for girl child then why special treatment to siblings ?
That's also a different point of view but a very valid one although I may not completely agree with it in totality.
4-5 years down the line when (if) you decide to have another baby and he/she is ready for school admission, would you want to go through this trauma all over once again?
I think this mental harassment should only be once in a lifetime event for all parents.
Every one should have an opportunity - single or sibling and one category should not be allowed to become over bearing on the other. I don't deny sibling preference but at the same time don't favor lack of rights to an equal opportunity to first born. we have come a long way from previous year corrupt systems to a more tighter system and will move towards further refinement which ensures equal opportunity to be selected or rejected.
This point system is not practically correct. We need to identify what are the basic types of applicants like 1. fresh applicants, 2. transfer cases, 3. siblings, 4. alumni, 5. EWS/DG, 6. Staff.
Now all the mentioned categories constitute the society, as the government and the schools have certain obligation towards all the sections of the public/society THEY SHOULD NOT MAKE OR LET ALL THE CATEGORIES COMPETE AGAINST EACH OTHER BY VARIOUS CONFLICTING POINTS. INSTEAD ALL THE CATEGORIES SHOULD BE ALLOTTED A SPECIFIC FIXED QUOTA (PRESENTLY APPLIED ONLY IN THE CASE OF EWS/DG).
THIS WILL HELP SOLVE THE PROBLEM TO A LARGE EXTENT, AS EVERY SEGMENT OF PUBLIC WILL BE SERVED BY EACH AND EVERY SCHOOL IN ITS OWN PERSONAL LIMITED CAPACITY.
It is not a practical solution.
It may or may NOT be a practical solution.
But I mean to say that fresh applicants don't stand a chance in the present point system. Just suppose that I live next to DPS VV and have only 1 child (son) and I am not an alumni of DPS VV , living in Delhi since birth, DO I STAND A CHANCE to secure a seat in the nearest school??? the answer is NO.
Merely mentioning that there are only 8-10 most sought after schools in delhi and the scene will be different in other schools will not dilute the problem.
There is a HUGE gap in demand and supply of seats. Whats wrong if a parent living next to a prestigious school dreams of getting his/her child admitted to the same?
Parents want to do whatever possible to get their child admitted to a prestigious school, up to a certain level it is fine also, but to be desperate its totally wrong. At least every parent wants and has a right to get a fair chance. If the name chit of the applicant is not in the DRAW bag then the whole method needs to be re-looked.
I AM RESIDING JUST OPPOSITE DPS VV I HAVE 70 POINTS AND NOT SO HOPEFUL. BUT A CHILD STAYING IN NARAINA 8 KMS AWAY WITH JUST 5-20 EXTRA POINTS WILL GET SURE SHOT ADMISSION. WHAT A JOKE OF NEIGHBOURHOOD CRITERIA.
@rahul Later on people will realize what they lost by these new guidlines. Majority of the nearby population would be left out only then they will wake up. But that will be late. I may attract opposition, but that is always welcomed.
I have been closing monitoring the nursery admissions for the past 4 years and people will see the loss they have gained. Last year Sanskriti School could NOT admit EVEN a SINGLE child in its first list of general category on the grounds of ONLY vicinity points. This means if a first born child was living even next to the school, his name was not even considered leave aside giving admission.
This year they have only 14 seats for the general category with 0-8kms list consisting more than 50 colonies.
don't u think these 50+ colonies will not have 14 sibling cases or leave sibling consider only transfer cases. u have the answer i don't need to further clarify.
For fresh cases this latest points system is very bad. Since long there is nobody looking into the pain and concerns of the first born children.
