WARDS LEFT OUT OF NURSERY SCHOOL LOTTERY, PARENTS SEE RED

NEW DELHI: Thrilled earlier by the new nursery admission guidelines, parents whose children were not made part of the lottery are now fuming.

Parents who have managed to score only 70 points through the neighbourhood criteria are a worried lot as most schools have not included them in their first lottery.

“Most schools have conducted the lottery among those students who have managed to score more than 75 points. The seats are being filled mostly by those children who have siblings in the same schools or whose parents are alumni,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com.

Another big issue that has cropped up is the transfer points. Under the new guidelines, any child whose parents have been transferred to the city will be given 5 points.

A number of parents have alleged that those living in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Noida are taking advantage of the interstate transfer points.

“I don’t understand why anyone has to be given extra points for a transfer? Since neighbourhood is ideally the biggest deciding factor,”

According to experts, the first list will be contentious, filled with children who have got points in the sibling, alumni and transfer categories.

“We don’t want to condemn the guidelines. They are better than last year but neighbourhood points should have been given in a staggered manner so that a child who lived within a three kilometer radius would be assured of admission,” Vohra added

We have already done two  big article in media coming tomorrow .

Yeah.. Agreed.. Totally against transfer cases.. Let's all get together and file a petition.. Convent schools take Christians.. MIS take followers of aurobindo.. Sardar Patel takes gujaratis.. And rest of d scoops taken over by transfer cases.. Like if born and brought up in Delhi our kids have no right to education.. !! This has to be stopped..!!

100% true..

Mr Vohra! Instead of hammering 8 km criteria why you don't attack on transfer cases. Why people getting in Delhi in last one year should be given preference over those living in Delhi. What sin we have committed? .
Plz... I urge everybody to come together against these transfer cases.. Discussing only at this forum is not gonna help.. We need to show some action to express our concerns over this nonsensical criteria..!!
If we go for distance rule we will get lost and won't achieve much...let's focus on guidelines for docs proof for interstate transfers and no NCR cases for these transfers..this would surely yield results..I guess parents who have played this fraud need an education more than their kids..

It must be thoroughly checked because there are some fraudulent brokers available in the market which provide the fake TRANSFER Certificates especially to those people who are working in the private sector (as it is next to impossible for a government employee to produce the transfer certificate) and you will get extra advantage of the points on the basis of transfer for your ward in nursery admission. It MUST be checked by Government & School Authorities that Delhi-NCR transfers (like Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Bahadurgarh) MUST NOT be treated as inter-state transfer cases. Who Will Ensure It I Have Doubt ? ? ?

The 75 points cutoff has ensured that my daughter will never go to DPS or MIS, which means that if I have another child in future, she/he is automatically excluded. Fair enough, we will have the last laugh 10-15 years from now. Thousands of children of highly educated parents will now go to the 'lesser' ranked schools, and these schools will have a better story to tell after a decade. Life is a great leveler.

Who gives them 'lesser' ranks ? Certainly not parents whose wards are studying in these schools.

It is certainly no rule that 'highly' educated parents' wards should go to DPS / MIS.

It is certainly no guarantee that students from DPS/MIS are all achievers and rest of the schools are nowhere.

The staggered system of the points works best for the neighborhood criteria. In the current system, child, may need a transportation for 8 km as all fall in the same bracket. While a child from vasant kunj would be travelling 8 km away, another child from 8 km would be travelling to Vasant Kunj which definitely adds to the woes. Giving the additional 5-10 points to 0-3 km radius will help overcoming this issue.

While the second child enjoys the sibling points, I wonder what is the fault of the first child. In the current system, the chances of getting the admission for the first born child are extremely thin. There are draw of lots for the alumni/transfer cases while neighborhood points are just not sufficient to secure admission in a good school. There may be so many good schools in the vicinity, one is on the mercy of the lottery system. The lottery chances can be realised by the fact that the number of candidates are 500-800 times the number of the seats.

Thoroughly disapprove the current system

For verification of transfer cases in DPS vasant vihar they checked following documents
1- birth certificate
2- in residence proof - electricity bill , MTNL bill
3- in case of transfer they were checked reliving letter , joining letter . id proof of current employer ,
in case of international transfer they checked passport, to check when the parents shift to Delhi , this is done by checking stamps of airport authorities on respective passports etc . And still they have some doubt then they not considered the application for the points of transfer case ( 5 points ) .
Thats ridiculous why dont they check salary slips or bank account details with salary. This way anybody will get thru fake transfer certificates!!!
