Delhi's frustrated parents try luck in NCR schools

NOIDA/GURGAON: Delhi's neighbourhood norms for nursery admissions are forcing many city parents to consider schools in Noida and Gurgaon.

Sunita Malik, head of the pre-primary section at Shiv Nadar School, Noida, said students from Delhi are welcome. "Most of the seats in nursery have already been filled. There are around 15-20% students from Delhi in this class." She added some 20 families from Delhi have approached the school and are seeking admission.

Pramod Sharma, the director and principal of Genesis Global School Noida, said students of Delhi can be admitted in his school without any restriction. "Around 50 more students can still be admitted in nursery. Students of Delhi are welcome," he said.

Unlike Noida, there are, however, fewer takers for Gurgaon schools among Delhi residents, primarily because of the distance and the fact that many Gurgaon schoolbuses do not come to the capital.

But GD Goenka Public School in Gurgaon's Sector 48 says it got nearly a dozen applications from parents in Delhi for a total of 240 seats. School authorities say this could be because of the school's strategic location - it is easily accessible from the both NH8 and MG road. "We are just one year old and don't have any bus which goes to Delhi but still we received around a dozen applications from parents in south Delhi," said Neha Verma, admission in-charge of the school.

There are, however, some schools in Noida which have made it clear that they would prefer only Noida students. M N Arul Raj, principal of Somerville School, said she will adhere to the school rules of admitting only Noida students. "We only consider students of Noida because it's always easy to contact their parents and call them in case of an emergency." She said around 15 parents have approached her school for nursery admission, but they will not be considered.

Many parents who have applied to schools across the border have also applied to Delhi schools and are waiting for the results here. Veena Arora of Sarita Vihar said she has applied in eight schools but was not sure her child would get admission.

"My child has only 70 points of neighbourhood criteria and no other points like siblings, or alumni in that school. I am waiting for the admission list. I will approach a Noida school if my child is not admitted in a Delhi school," she said.

Preparators of this guideline will be certainly feeling red faced. Such a disaster it has prooved this year. Thanks the efforts of an.com team.

Anytime Ranjan

But this type of situation never erose earlier .used to happened after results'

Coz 70% of people have only Neighbourhood hood points and there will be atleast 15-20% people who will be left out once the results of all the schools are out. So many parents are being pro-active as to those who reside on the border of NOIDA / GURGAON, as once list are out there wont be much time left ..PANIC STRUCK!!

if the ncr transfer cases are scrapped then their is no frustation at all.
