Parents to challenge nursery guidelines

NEW DELHI: A fresh round of litigations is about to begin over nursery admissions. The five points for transfer students and the massive number of applications under this category have prompted two groups of parents to file petitions asking for a change in guidelines.

While one petition will be filed by parents protesting against transfer points at Jantar Mantar, another will be filed by a parent of a child with special needs who says EWS-DG category draws have left her child's chances close to zero. "We will ask for the removal of points for transfer and alumni," says lawyer Prachi Mehta who is drafting the petition.

A group of parents, who have got just 70 points for distance, gathered at India Gate on Saturday and at Jantar Mantar on Sunday to protest the granting of five points to transfers cases. They say this has neutralized the advantage alumni once had. "You can be an alumnus of just one school. Those applying under the transfer category will have five extra points in every school," says an alumnus of DPS, R K Puram

"As per our survey, about 98% parents are against points for transfer cases from NCR. Last year, several schools didn't allow NCR transfers but this year it has been included in "interstate-transfer. I wish the LG clarifies the issue of transfer points," says Sumit Vohra of admissionsnursery.com.

Mr Sumit Vohra's Complaint of fraudulent transfer certificates led DoE to issue fresh guidelines on transfer cases but these pertain only to the diligence the school can do and do not clarify or alter the definition of "inter-state".

Parents of differently-abled children are also planning to file a PIL seeking decisions on the draw of lots for this group. These children, together with economically weaker section ones, are entitled to 25% quota.

But Amita Garg, a cardiologist and parent of a child with Down's syndrome, says her child's chances of getting a seat through EWS draws are slim. "We can't apply everywhere since most schools do not have the required infrastructure," she says. Till last year, despite this group being covered by the quota, some schools had separate points for it. This year, the fixing of the points system has meant this group can be admitted only through the quota.

Good at least someone has come up to put a fight against the system for disadvantaged group. The current guidelines will not give them admission bcos it has been clubbed with ews category which is not right.

Hello,

I have a daughter and I live only 200 meters away from MIS, but its really sad that just because I have only 70 points , I don't have rite to allow my daughter to study in a good school. this is so dis heartening , now I feel that just because of this my daughter will suffer and she will complaint that dad couldn't you give me a good school to study.?????

Mr Vohra can you please let me know what is the future, will we able to be get our child into any good schools, coz in dps also they did not consider 70 points in general draw not in mis. dps vv , eok none. now vasant valley.....please let me know sir / sakshi mam. please tell me what is the way out now....if this was the case management quota was good , at least according to my pocket I would have atleast given my child a decent education.

I agree with Abhishek. I am in Dwarka and here all the school falls under 8 KM, hence I am also having 70 points. But so far, no luck with any draw in any of the schools... Its very sad & disheartning

Even we are facing the same situation. I have a single child (boy) and hence scored only 70 points. we are born and brought up in delhi but still preference of education is given to people who are transferred from outside. Where is the equality in this system? I have 15 schools within the proximity of 8kms. But not even in draw of lots our child's name is shortlisted. Even the waitlisted candidates have 75 points. This is not fair to our child as he will because of this failed system will not get any admission and will loose a year. The distance criteria is in this case a complete failure. Why these people who are transferred should be given an edge against our child. This isn't called equality. I am very tensed. Children with 70 points are the discarded lot seems like.

same situation . 1st child who is already 4+ with only 70 points in all the schools that we have applied for.

wandering what will happen

urgent need to abolish transfer points ASAP and hold a redraw of the similar pointers

Dear Vohra Pls request DOE to abolish inter state transfer point and order schools to again do draw of lots,as it has been a very disheartening experience, seeing that our children with 70 points are not eligible for draw too.
"No chance on 70 points in good schools.now we are also not sure about our chances in other schools, as there are many applications In a way we are getting penalized for being permanent citizens of Delhi.
Dear Mr Vohr sir / sakshi Madam

Now Parents have only Hope on You of against of 70 points of Delhi citizen
Pls request DoE to issue fresh guidelines on transfer cases but these pertain only to the diligence the school can do and do not clarify or alter the definition of "inter-state.
Dear moderator.pls make it possible for 70point holders to get a fair chance in good schools.till now we hardly qualify for the draw
Yes that means schools r hereditary I have first child so points r 70 we have to do something please help us so that child can get admission in school this year.
