Woman caught red-handed for nursery admission fraud

New Delhi, Feb 22, 2014, DHNS:

A 30-year-old woman has been arrested for duping people on the pretext of providing nursery admissions to their children in a renowned school in south Delhi’s RK Puram, police said on Saturday.

Sujata Bhattacharya, who hails from Mumbai, lives in a rented house at south Delhi’s Arjun Nagar.

Police said she holds a double MA in English and Economics, and currently, pursuing MPhil from Indira Gandhi National Open University. She also conducts tuition classes in Safdarjung Enclave.

“Sujata was held after a complaint was received at Safdarjung Enclave police station,” a police officer said.

The complainant, a resident of GT Enclave, told police about a woman who met him outside a renowned school in RK Puram offering help in nursery admissions.

Sujata had demanded around Rs 2 lakh for the admission of the complainant’s two children.

On February 19, the man made a payment of Rs 40,000 to Sujata. Despite making the payment, the man was not sure about the deal and decided to approach police.Subsequently, a team of Safdarjung Enclave police station, including SHO Ram Singh and Sub-Inspectors Vivek Yadav and Yogesh, laid a trap near the school.

“The complainant was asked to call Sujata for the second instalment of payment,” the officer added. She was overpowered and arrested while accepting cash.

A case of cheating under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code has been filed with Safdarjung Enclave police station. Sources said Sujata was earlier accused in a case of cheque bounce.

Investigating officers are probing if she has any other criminal history. “We believe that she may have cheated several parents promising nursery admissions,” the officer said.

Nursery admissions in schools in the Capital have turned into a nightmare for parents this year. A new system, the multiple lotteries and point system, has been introduced to improve transparency and fairness.

Under the new guidelines of the Lieutenant Governor, schools will conduct a lottery for the economically weaker sections (25 per cent quota), the general category (70 per cent which would include the five per cent girl child quota) and the staff quota (five per cent quota).

She is just one....we should see why non of ministers or beaurocrats children ever denied any admission or studying in less known school or college.....laws r only for common middle class...who doesnt have any pull
As well known in india...jugad is best scource one need...without jugad no work possible...

V WENT TO FEW SCHOOLS LIKE RAMJAS SCHOOL, ANAND PARBAT AND RAMJAS DAY BOARDING SCHOOL, AS PER THEM THEY WILL DISPLAY THE LIST OF SELECTED CANDIDATES ON 28TH fEB EVENING, WITHOUT CONDUCTING ANY DRAW IN PRESENCE OF PARENTS. I REQUEST MR. SUMEET VOHRA TO TAKEUP THIS MATTER WITH CONCERNED SCHOOLS.

ALSO, I WOULD IKE TO ASK,THAT WHY THERE IS A DISCRIMINATION BETWEEN CHILD'S OF IAS AND OTHER CENTRAL GOVERNMENT OFFICERS AND GENERAL PUBLIC, WHILE GETTING ADMISSION INTO SANSKRIT SCHOOL. MR. VOHRA TO COMMENT ON THIS.

Both parties should be equally blamed. Parents should be extra cautious.

If your child gets thru with luck, she will say she got you thru

If your child does not get thru, she will refund the money

Many such schemes are run by crooks who have no links with the schools

Sansan i agree with you for those persons taking money for luck of the child. Infact, such persons are not having any link with admissions and try to trap innocent persons with their tricks. Do hell to such persons.

The point system is not good for parents who have 70 points.Tagore International School EOK & Cambridge School NFC are few of the example.Either you feed the school with money or get false documents.God knows how we middle class people get our child admitted in reputed school.

many schools have not displayed on their website the list  of selected candidates under girl child quota draw, can any one know result of cambridge schl, NFC, kr mangalam etc

If the child is not selected in draw then what is the future ?
