As nursery admissions are yet to start in Delhi schools, parents from Delhi are blocking seats in various private schools of Noida. Commuting from Noida to Delhi is also easier as most schools ply their buses to parts of Delhi.
The schedule for nursery admissions in Delhi schools is fixed for December-January. However, as many schools in Noida have started their nursery admission process, parents from Delhi, particularly in east and south, have started registering their wards for nursery admissions in Noida schools.
“I want to keep my hands full so that when the list is declared, I have schools to choose from rather than the other way round,” Paulomi Ghosh of Mayur Vihar, Phase 1, said.
Education experts say that the trend has been prevalent since the last year as new schools are being set up in Noida.
“Parents want to make sure that they have one good school in hand and hence apply to Noida schools. New schools coming up in Noida also have a holistic curriculum and the parent to teacher ratio is less. Moreover, there are limited options in Delhi, so it is always beneficial to have more options,” Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionnursery.com, said.
Many schools, including DPS Noida in Sector 30, Shri Ram Millenium School in Sector 135, Global Indian International School (GIIS) in Sector 71, Mayoor International School in Sector 126, Shiv Nadar School in Sector 168 and Lotus Valley International School in Sector 126 ply their buses to east and south Delhi.
“As almost 10% of our students are from Delhi, our buses ply to Preet Vihar and Patparganj in east Delhi and Jasola and Lajpat Nagar in souh Delhi for their convenience,” Rajeev Katyal country head of GIIS, said.
“It was a safe bet for us to apply for nursery admissions in Noida because we did not get the preferred option here in Delhi. Now my son studies in Shiv Nadar School and the distance does not pose any inconvenience to us,” Sapna Kapoor of Defence Colony in Delhi said.
