Dear Rohit ji,
As per Right To Education Act 2009 (applicable from April 1, 2010) there is no word abbreviated as such EWS (Economically Weaker Section of Indian society) but the Act has clearly defined it in terms like "Child belonging to weaker section means a child belonging to such parents or guardian whose annual income is lower than the minimum limit specified by the appropriate Government, by notification."
RTE Act 2009 clearly says in section--12 (1) © and 12 (2): An unaided school (not receiving any grant from the Government) shall admit to the extent of 25% of class strength; children belonging to the weaker sections and disadvantaged groups in the neighborhood and provide free and compulsory elementary education till its completion. Such school shall be reimbursed expenditure so incurred by it to the extent of per-child-expenditure incurred by the State or the actual amount charged from the child, whichever is less; provided that such reimbursement shall not exceed per-child-expenditure incurred by a Government school.
