Nursery forms in, anxious wait for parents Share
At a Munirka neighbourhood in South Delhi, five families had been busy making strategies for nursery admissions over the last couple of weeks. With each family seeking admission for their three-year-olds, they decided to divide the schools among each other. Everyday, apart from downloading online forms, the families would visit schools to get application forms for admission to pre-school classes for the 2011-12 session. The Guptas were one among the five families. “All neighbours, we divided schools across the city among ourselves,” says Pankaj Gupta, a government employee and father of a three-year-old. “I went to a few schools in Hauz Khas and submitted applications for my son as well as my neighbours’ children,” he says, adding that the other families did the same for them.
“We shared the responsibility,” he said. The Guptas applied to at least 20 schools across the Capital. With most of the schools closing their registration and form submission process on Saturday, parents are now waiting for Round II of the admission process — involving shortlisting of students by schools.
However, there are some schools that have just finished selling the forms, and the submission process will continue for a few more days. For the EWS category, according to orders issued by the Directorate of Education, the sale and submission of forms will continue till January 20.
