NewDelhi:A day after the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl shook Ghaziabad, another case of suspected sexual abuse of a little girl has come to light in Delhi. Police said a five-year-old girl in northeast Delhi has alleged she was physically abused by a staffer, himself a minor, at school on Thursday morning. A case has been registered in this regard at Karawal Nagar but the nature of the assault has not been ascertained. Senior police officers did notdisclose details keeping in mind the sensitivity of the case. “We received the complaint of criminal sexual assault from the girl’s parents. We have apprehended the minor and slapped the relevant IPC charges along with POSCO that deals with sexual offences by juveniles. We cannot share more details at present,’’ said Dheeraj Kumar, additional DCP (northeast). The IPC charges invoked are Sections 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) and 377 (unnatural sex). Sources said the assault took place inside the school bathroom. “We were shocked to find that the teacher involved was a juvenile. He allegedly tricked her to come to the bathroom. The girl was too shocked to inform her parents initially on Thursday. They found outabout the abuse only when she refused to go to school on Friday morning,’’ said an investigating officer. The accused was produced before the juvenile justice board and later sent to a juvenile home. Sources said police may take legal action against the school authorities. “We might write to the Delhi education department to find out how a teenager was employed either as a teacher or an employee. If the school administration is found guilty in our investigations, we will register a case,’’ said the investigating officer.
