It is reallY good thought however when it comes to admission politics trends in past we as parents have no choice than to fill up good no of forms.................
Eg : I want my son to be admitted to Meera ambika.............reason they teach in nautral way..........bring out natural talent.............however there are 2-3 seats fo general category..................
Now if I would have done analysis and shortlisted school as per my child interest and way I want to groom him........I think I have to make him sit at home only..........................
@ Pritha
Dear Pritha,
I too have applied to Mirambika and i am 90% sure that i will not get a seat there and my daughter is in Navakriti right now. In last one year i had learned a lot about child upbringing from this school. I think i was attending it and learning more than my child.
Thanks to this school that i have got strength and path to make bold decision about my children. I have already planned to send my child to navakriti again and then shift to gurgaon in few month so that i can get my daughter admitted to shikshantar next year.
The best example which always comes to my mind is Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore. He never went to school and got Nobel.
I know it is really easy to preach. So please don't take me otherwise. If you start searching beyond so call delhi schools rat race. you will find many alternatives. Trust me after 12 or 14 years you will get a lot of thanks from your child.
Wish you all the best.
hey Rashmi nothing to take personal its just the agony of parents that I shared.I agree with you .
Anyway I have not heard about Navakirti & Shikshantar .can you tell me about them a bit.......
Dear Pritha,
Navakriti is a play school inside Aurobindo Ashram near NCERT. Very good play school. but not for parent who want that their children start learning ABCD or 1,2,3.
Here majority of parent get panic when they hear a for apple or 1234 and in parent meet session question is being raised, how come my child is speaking abcd or 1234.
When any one ask my daughter where do you study, she promptly replies "at Navakriti"
the very next question any one ask what do you study, she says i don't study i play.
i go school to play. Their learning method is natural and playful.
Shikshantar is in gurgaon Started by some ex teachers of Mirambika. They are trying to follow same methodology as MIRAMBIKA. It is a little costly school but worth every penny. you can visit www.shikshantarschool.com
Rashmi your very much right!! even I was thinking the same when I was watching a news channel yesterday which was showing some sting operation on schools.. I have not bought forms from few schools who are charging more and giving prospectus forcefully.. but at few schools when I asked for only form then few of them provided me at 50 Rs.
At some places, I had paid around 400-500 Rs. each for form n prospectus when I was not aware about the form (25 Rs.)
The point system used by schools this year is nothing but only a Big drama.. they are making us fool nothing else..
Hi Rashmi,
Very well said & you have very valid points as well
But you also know that writing here & working in practical enviorment is totally different
Can you answer some questions on your points
How many of us hadn't applied to schools who asked for more than 25 rupees?
Can you name any 5 schools in one locality who were not charging more than 25 rupees
How many of us took fight with school on discriminatory criteria themselves instead of Asking sumit jee or shakshi jee.
Are you aware to whom to fight & who will allow individual to enter the school for discussing these issues.
How many of us made up mind that it is not end of life if our children get admission this year.
The reason all are running behind the admission in nursery, because there are very less vacancy in KG & even less in upper class. So, nursery is the right time to get the child admitted in the school. If not this year than no school will take the kid in nursery next year & will have limited vacancies in KG. If you notice than all good schools have no vaccancy in KG
How many of us didn't go to schools for admissions where results were out before 1 feb as it is against the rule.
Many parents are not going to schools, but what if they just wait for 1st Feb & will not get the name of the child in the schools displaying list on 1st. In that case they will loose both
All these points are just good to say, but cannot be implemented in real world.
No parent want to rush here & there like fools, also nobody is having extra money & time to spend on these schools. But parents are forced to do all this
Ask this in the poll that how many parents want to give donation or want to rush for the admission, you will not get any single parent for the same.
Every parent earn money after their hard work & that is precious to them, but they have to give that to these schools. This system is like cancer, as cancer sucks your money, time & health, same happens at the time of nursery admissions
Can you name any 5 schools in one locality who were not charging more than 25 rupees?
Mother international
vasant valley
sri ram
amity
Mirambika (75 rs.) with prospectus
i know these 4 schools and these places i had applied.
i applied to apeejay too. but be sure that i will not admit my child there even if she get admission. i guarantee about it and you can see my post here about in first week of feb.
Are you aware to whom to fight & who will allow individual to enter the school for discussing these issues.
Yes the school administration. Meet Mr. Ashok aggarwal or just support him. you can see the change.
But for me this time I am going to be the change.
How many of us took fight with school on discriminatory criteria themselves instead of Asking sumit jee or shakshi jee.
I fought in two well known school and didn't applied.
According to me even 500 parent stand up then you can always see the change. I have already decided not to admit my child if there is discrepancies.
How many of us made up mind that it is not end of life if our children get admission this year.
No parent want to rush here & there like fools, also nobody is having extra money & time to spend on these schools. But parents are forced to do all this.
Yes i agree with you on money part.
But TIME
Even i fight for one year that is worth every second of my time. If we give time to do the right thing. it is not a waste of time.
You are giving time for your children.
Stop applying to 20 schools and just apply to nearby schools and stop admitting your child who ask for illegal money. you will save money and time
I don't have any regret in doing so. Today i may be alone or mad but others will sure hear me and may do the same and change will start.
We should not talk about practicality by following what others are doing.
Take an hour out of your hectic life. sit alone with your child, play with him or her, ask about their dreams, like and dislike you will know the answer.
Dear Ashish, please don't take it personally. This is my point of view. but surely i will try to affect every one if possible with my remark so that sensibility prevails among us.
Dear Mr.Ranjan,
I completely agree with you and though I can't write such great words like you but yes I have also applied to very few schools and only those which are in 5 kms radius from my residence.
I was also told by people around that Apeejay is not too far and I must have applied, my only reason was the 400 Rs they were charging.
I always felt that traveling 10-15 Kms takes away a lot of energy and time from a person and for a small kid it would be too demanding and in Delhi- unsafe as well. I have studied in St.Xavier's and mine used to be the last stop on my way home.I remember my mother used to tell me "don't fall asleep in the bus".
And I am not really worried about my child's admission. It was not very long back that we all came across "Sahal Kaushik", the boy who never went to a regular school and became the youngest one to clear IIT exam.
Though when the admission process started, I had also thought of applying to 15-20 schools, I was not expecting so many dirty tricks from school. I ended up applying to just 5 or 6.
I can understand the panic and anger of all the parents as well, It is difficult to think out of the box when you are so wrapped up inside one.
I agree with you in all points you mentioned. I too applied only 6 schools near my residence and already discarded 2 since they were against the rules and regulations.
Not only Sahal Kaushik but her sister too is home tutored by her mom who lives next to my apartment. But Sahal added the name Vandana International School just for attendance sake but the school boasted of with weekly advertisements as though he studied there after that. Even though we can make a genius at home, a child need a school for overall development.
Very well said Aparna
This is real story of all the parents currently
DPS Rohini should play fair .
IF they are to display a second list which they must as they have 70 seats
but why not just add one line abt it
is it too much to ask from a school like dps
we just want to get over the issue wheather we have a chance or not
so that we can start looking for other options
