Neighbourhood criteria is very important
Thanks a Ton Sumit sir for taking up this to the concerned authorities.
Surely the criteria must be a uniform one with no discrimination to one set of parents..
1.Neighourhood criteria-Local residents should be given a priority as it would be a torture for young students to travel so far and an inconveince for such parents.
2. Criteria like First Born Child also to be included alongwith the usual ones highlighted as Siblings, Transfer cases, Alumni, Girl Child etc.
3. Schools can increase Nos. of seats to accomodate the EWS & Management Quota so that enough absolute nos. of seats for General Category can be arranged.
4. Let the schools have somewhat standard registration form with a scope of school specific additional features if they want to add into it.
5. No scope of ambiguity-schools should not have the discretion of previous year's 20 points weightage criteria in their hand as it can then be used to profile the parents.
All the Criteria decided should be explicitely explained with corresponding points and parents must be made aware well ahead.
Let the schools clarify that how they will identify the EWS category (documents required)..lest it can be misused in big way.
Schools must give confirmation to the General Category parents that their will not be any Fee Hike due to inclusion of EWS. Let they pay from the amount they get from management quota or from their internal accruels.
ALL THE BEST --Bij:)
Bij sir very valid points
Documents certifying EWS category : Income certificate issued from SDM/Tehsildar of the respective area (Delhi), and Ration Card of the family. Further the parents of the child must have been living in Delhi for the last 5 years. In addition to it. Voters Card on the name of Parents may be asked by the schools.
A specific period for forms receiving totalling at least 3 to 4 days must be decided by govt. and the same widely mentioned in news papers etc. Similar with the submission period and lists.
Also, common forms or single pts. should be made at least 10 places in delhi where all school forms are available. This will greately help parents and also benefit schools as wider students can then approach them.
Further, i fully support a FIXED POINT SYSTEM predecided by the govt. And also, random audits for schools afterwards to check if the criteria was followed properly. Two reasons for this:
1. Clarity for parents about criteria.
2. Minimum chances of exploitation by any school.
On one hand we say girls are equal to boys then I think there should be no weightage for child on bassi of gender.........pls................
Alumni is completely vegue in my view as it is immaterial that your child should go to the same school where from you studied. It is complete inclination towards the Dillilites.Parents like us from other state never get any preference in this regard. Our identity should be nationwise not at statewise. Please consider the issue.
Kids are too young today but they won't remain the same, a formal school education is for 14 years. How can people like me who live in Vikaspuri with no good schools around compromise on the quality education for kids?? Let the distance criteria be there but it can't be used as it is. EIther areas like Vikaspuri needs to be given more weightage or exceed the limit of neighbourhood upto 10-15 kms.
Child should not be called along with parents. It will be hard for parents to manage the form and interview lines and a child simultaneously.More over each and every school should have a standard and fixed point system and guidlines.
