The idea of a management quota is ridiculous, and awarding points to single parents... why?  Why should stable families suffer.  No, these guidelines must be revised, they are all to the advantage of the school, the whole point is to bring more transparency into the system, not to give the schools more power.

I m really impressed the way you r working.

I got email saying u hv discussion at 9:30 PM on Delhi Aajtak

I would like to take up an issue of age limit also , apart from neighbourhood and other points which are also really very very important

'' School should open admission to nursery - age of minimum 3+ and maximum no limit.'' or either they should give some relaxation to special kids, speech delay kids, and others ''

I also go for nieghbourhood (so that child does not need to travel long) and secondly first child Boy/Girl (atleast that gives som relaxation to parents with first & one child as boy....inshort parents like me). If these two goes mandatory then atleast i see any hope for my sons future.

Leaving it to schools to deceide their ajanda for admission will creat lot of confusion and trouble. I would appreciate if the criteria is more clear before the forms are out.

I am just keeping my fingers cross for my sons admission.

No clarification has been given on the Age limit. there should be any system so that all the students due for the admission get admission.

siblings should get admitted to school compulsory as some of the schools discourage siblings
Who are Mr Lovely and Mrs Shiela Dikshit? These people have nothing to do with education. Why should we rely on these ministers who don't know the ABC of the education system. Why is DOE silent on this issue? Why was the Department of Education formed in the first place if it believes in being a mute spectator? What is the relevance of the Right To Education now. I think the Right To Education should be called Right To Please the School Lobby.

Absolutely.,...as per DOE guidelines, the very basic criteria, the child should be 4 yrs before entering any formal education...that very criteria is violated here.

1. there should be only one criteria atleast for d age. like my daughter's dob is 31march 2008. now i hv to go to each and every school to conferm whether she is elegible to get admission in their school or not.

2. EWS quota should not be more than 10%, because directly or indirectly the burden of their cost lies on general student.

1. Common & Standard guidelines for all the schools. For working parents its very difficult to keep a track on different deadlines & guidelines...Thank God and thank Sumit Vohra Ji....atleast we have admissionsnursery.com for this.

2. Common dates/deadline for submission of forms, admissions etc.

3. I don't think neighbourhood is the very great criteria....bcoz that prevents some parents from admitting there kids in GOOD schools of their choice.

4. Child should be atleast 3.5+ years before putting into any formal education.

5. No or less percentage of management quota.

6. 25% EWS quota doesn't make sense at all !!!! That's just a vote bank. With due respect to everyone, it will be very challenging for EWS students to cope up with other students in the same class..and this will lead to social, emotional & pyscological issues.

I have a question for all the parents who are not in favor of siblings given some extra points compared to only/first child:

Suppose the school has to choose between two kids, a child who has a sibling in the same school and the child who is either a first born or an only child. Which child should be selected for admission?

I agree that there should not be a vast difference in points among the two categories, but am sure most of us will agree on the fact that it is convenient for parents when siblings go to same school. Than why not they be given some extra points? This way at least the sibling cases are given the due consideration. I wonder if I am wrong!

you are not. Sibling shall get pref over first child. Reason given below

Attending PTMs in different schools every month in the same time slot. - difficult

Have different vacation time table for two different school - difficult

Different days for annual days and preps happening in different months - difficult

managing differrent test schedules for both kids - difficult

Thanks Parag for supporting and analyzing my point further. I wonder if other parents and authorities understand that too!

Moreover, it is better on the kid's part too. They would not quarrel all the time as whose school is better! LOL
