Rightly said and a good percentage of child shortlisted are based out of dwarka, clearly defying the logic of getting education within 3-5km. I think this whole point system is an eyewash and aid schools in fulfilling the motives of getting money or children from high status. Whole point system should be abolished and replaced by very simple system and in 3 steps

1) Eligibility based on minimum age

2) Based on distance (Can be categarised based on 0-5km, 5-10km and >10km)

3) Open Draw of lot (with waiting list)

Dates for Draw must be within single week across all the schools so that parents can select and get their ward admitted in a single school (no tension to arrange money for 2-3 schools).

In last couple of weeks like other parent, many question have gone through my mind

1) Why my baby doesn't born few months earlier to be eligible for Carmel Convent?

2) Why she/he dosn't have a elder sibling studying in some DPS or other top notch school?

3) Why i am (or my spouse) not born and broughtup in Delhi and not a alumni of somebig name school?

4) Why i have not agreed to pay cash as demanded by some schools during illegal interaction sessions?

5) Why i belong to middle class and neither able to get a management or EWS seat?

6) Why there is no response from DOE on the complaints raised?

I only know the answer of Question6- CORRUPTION

Still,I have not lost the hope and i am sure my child will get admission in some good school

Same here Sukesh.
I have asked myself same questions, including, when my parents asked me to join DPS after my 10th, I decided against it and stayed back with my friends since nursery in same school. Those friends are still with me 20years hence. And I am asking myself today "was this decision the big mistake of my life? Because this is the only good school in my vicinity and my child suffers because of my decision taken 20years back. :-/
I strongly feel that the alumni category should be removed. Sibling category needs to remain. Many here have stated their views strongly against it. But truly, see it this way, would you not want your younger child to go to the same school as the elder one. But, what can be done is that a percentage (say 15-20%) from the entire class may be fixed for sibling category. This would be 5-8 seats in a class of 40. And if not filled these seats could be added to general category.

Latha ma, I stay across DPS, scored 25pts for distance and 5 for first child, when the school is not even 500m away from my home.
Why I living in within a km range of Hansraj model school hasn't made to the first list? I was shocked to see the result when even my neighbourhood points, first born and boy points (total 35 points) were not enough to reach the cut off. If iam not able to secure admission here where does my child stand a chance. DOE suggest us to fill in the school in your neighbourhood but doesn't suggest the same to the schools to first enroll the kids in your neighbourhood. Sad but this point system is totally an eyewash.
Living in the poshest colony of west delhi I.e. west punjabi bagh..lands you nowhere.still I don't get a chance in Hansraj model school which is also in West Punjabi Bagh.

according to me only distance and the special needs category should remain in point system.....alumni and sibling should be strictly removed,

i would like mr vohra to highlight the point behind this......i would like to question that if the parents education holds no points then why should the patents schooling hold points. isnt it creating bias against the children who do not get admission in good schools of neighbourhood because all seats are fillled by the sibling and alumni.

is there anything which the parents can do mr vohra to bring about a change in the existing point system?

i think there is a big community of parents who is suffering because of this. i think we all can get together to put forward our request to the higher authorities and i think mr vohra is the best person to show us the way.

I stongly belive that alumni points should be removed.

ALUMNI

alumni should be removed

Alumni points should be removed....if parents study in one school then it should not be the birthright of all their children to study in the same school

Can someone show us the legal way.
I am ready to participate
