You have to keep multiple original copies of birth certificates if you are going to apply in many schools. If you don't have arrange to get original copies of BC from the municipal or township you got the BC.

attested photocopies will do or only original copies r required?

Again if you are applying in many schools copy or attested photocopies will do as per the school requirement and in case if you are selected in 3 or 4 schools you have to submit the original BC in schools and if suppose you want to cancel the admission in one school, school return the documents after a month of your request and so you are in need of multiple original copies.
