I : It's official. Parents' profession or educational background cannot decide a child's admission.

And schools that follow this "discriminatory" criterion for nursery admission will have to revise their points system.

State Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely made this clear while speaking to Hindustan Times on Thursday.
"How can a child's admission be based on how much his or her parents have studied or where they work? This is discrimination," he said.

The government has already cracked down on some city schools, which have had to revise their points system just a few days before the first list.

Bluebells School International and Gyan Bharti School in south Delhi are among those who have deleted the profession and education criteria and reshuffled points.

Under the 100-point system, schools have to compulsorily disclose their admission criteria and distribute 100 points among them. Alumni, siblings and distance are among the factors on which Delhi schools admit children.

The government's tough stand could mean that sought-after institutions such as Sanskriti School, Delhi Public School, Mathura Road and Alhcon International School also revise their points system.

"We can't comment about changing the criteria as we haven't heard anything from the Directorate of Education yet," said Abha Sahgal, principal, Sanskriti School, which has accorded 40 points for parents' profession.

"This action has come a little too late. It should have been done when schools were still accepting application forms," said Sumit Vohra, who runs admissionsnursery.com, a website to guide parents.

Thanks MR. Vohra and ritika.
Now wats going to b the consequences? parents who have settled in delhi just years back and no alumni, who has only child and cant apply under sibling cat., whose children r not physically challenged,unfortunately a boy and single parents status rely only on qualification and profession status. This means their ward's admission is rejected then and there. cant we all parents join hands and take a stay against this in the court?

MY main concern is for schools like Apeejay sheikh sarai, DPS RK , DPS EOK and Amity international Saket where the lists are already out well before this mandate and a lot of parents have lost admissions because of the Profession / Parental Edu criteria

Now, How will the DOE revise the list for all these school

This is just done 3 days before to save their ASS so that at the end they are Out of the blame Game.

Werent the Ministers and Govt aware about these things before ???

There is no nuse to make changes now as the Train has already crossed the station

DPS has given 10 Points for people in Gov Jobs.....You can again check their list which was out yesterday afternoon

Govt job is not qualification but yes might not be in black and white (wait and watch it might be covered in proffesion )

As per Doe They can cancel the process of some school

The List is already out on their website...it very clearly indicate the points system...Parents with Govt Jobs are given 10 points...Where will the average middle class employee go.....

Sanskriti , DPS, Central Schools ------- For Govt Employees
Modern, Heritage, GD Goenka ----------- For High CLass Families

Dear Mr Vohra,
What does this transferable job means ? Earlier schools were considering the transferable job as whose parents are transferred in 2009 that is right, now they are also considering, parents who are settled in delhi with a letter from office saying that there job is transferable in near future. This is not right...Blue Bells int school, Kailash colony, is live example of that. They have changed the criteria just two days ahead of final list & are doing draw, with new criteria, which was not clear before the submission of form, so this should be stop immediately.
Can u help in that.

But will the same apply to Amity, Apeejay and DPS ????

This is the question !!!!!!!!!!!!

I have applied in 12 schools and got rejected in the above 3 beacuse of Parents Edu / Profession.

How can i justify this to my child why she has not been selected ??

accotding to me ,making laws or guidelines without effective implementation is useless.......and now its very late....it will only add more chaos and make parents more worried.if they have to implement it, then they can do it next year,they have ample of time.....hopefully DOE will not fall off to sleep again

mr vohra is doing grt job but we all parents have to stand up and raise the hands against the system .mr vohar i request you please make a committee for all the parents so that we can together raise our hands. we all parents meet with each other and make a comittee so that we can together fight against the odd system .fix a meeting with all d parents in one place and i request all the parents to join and take a action so that in future system will be take a right action
