Completely agree with your views.
I would like my child to start his nursery at 4yrs.. Y do I have to opt for KG only if he's 4+
Exactly, there should be a range of age. And parents should also have the freedom to choose when to start the schooling of their kids. children also have different levels of readiness for school. Some are fully ready when they become three and some at 4. So nursery admission should be allowed to children preferably between the age 3 to 4.5. Some children start speaking even before attaining 2years of age, some start at 4. How can they two be treated in the same way. Parents are the best judge to decide when to start schooling of his/er kid.
Mr. Lovely himself needs classes to understand the concept.... He needs to improve his reading and listening skills...the court clearly asked .... (1) Increase the age to 4+ and (2) set the pre-primary (or nursery or kindergarten) education for 1 year only instead of current 2 years.... Is it so hard to understand by "Education Ministers".... God know what will happen to our country when such st***d people are deciding for our children future.
On the contrary I think he deliberately made such a statement to confuse people so that their will be no opposing of their decision of setting age at 3+ (which they have already made in private meetings with concern parties/ schools).
Sarika has got it absolutely right. Admission in 1st standard will continue to be at 5 years age. The point is to have one year of pre-primary schooling instead of 2 years currently. Not sure what value addition does 2 years of pre-primary schooling provide. A 4 year old child will definitely be much more prepared to get into a bigger school than a 3 year old.
At 3 years, lot many children does not get enough time in play schools and hence lacks the mental build up to get into main school.
Moreover, this is not a state level competition. It is highly likely that over a period of time other states will also follow this policy.
Mr. Lovely, My view is that the minimum age of the child should be 4 years and pre primary education should be one year so that Child is 5 when he is in 1st standard accordingly he would be able to clear 12th standard at the age of 17.
Please if you could organise some referrandum of parents, teachers and school principals on this and other important questions....like admission criterion and transparency in the process and take some informed and strong actions to tackle with these chronic issues and save the future of this country.
Hey, whatever is/should be the age of admission, this must be decided atleast six months prior to admission procedures not just on the brink of admission starts. This raising of issues at the last minutes is very disturbing and would increase more confusions only.
Friends, better not to raise any new issue now at the last minute as this court case happened and pin all much before next session!!
Right...
It should not be Eleventh hour activity.. It is creating confusion amongs parents.
