why this debate crops in every time the nursery admission starts.......why not fix up the age?? why in spite of having full of intellectuals, administrators in the country , delhi (the national capital) has not been able to fix up the child's age.....every year we read the same old editorials in the mainline dailies....its really high time that the govt. and school authorities look up to this matter seriously and fix up the age(3 or 4) for at least for 20 yrs.....i think not only age but the overall admission procedure has to be more transparent so that so that parents can plan things accordingly.

yes minimum age should be 4+ in pre primary schooling.

instead of spending 2 years it should be one year and 5+ kid go to 1st class. but 3+ kid is very small for formal school.

LAST YEAR MR. SIBAL MAKE IT CLEAR DURING THE ADMISSION PROCESS THAT THE AGE WILL BE 4 YEARS AND AS HE SAID THIS IN BETWEEN THE PROCESS SO IT SUPPOSED TO BE APPLICABLE FROM THIS YEAR.... BUT AGAIN THE SAME STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as the state's progress is concerned, I agree with Mr Lovely

Mr Sibbal has sent his reccomendations to the state and said that implementation is the state's affair. So at that time it was left open.

I think why Govt is not able to take the call to make the entry age as 4+ and reduce 1 year before 1st standard is the pressure coming from the schools, because if this is implemented, schools will loose there revenue (1 year fees).

i totally agree with Mr. Lovely that the minimum age for admission should be 3 years.I give my 100% vote in this matter to 3 yrs age.

I am unable to understand the different versions given by the govt. authorities... After every 3-4 years they come up with new criteria on age and other requirements. The earlier criteria of cut-off age for admission to class nursery was 4+ as on 30th September comapred to 3+ as on 31st March was accurate. There was no burden on kids too... And as far job oppurtunities goes, there will not affect much according to me...

Dear Mr. Lovely, Why is it so hard for you to understand that all states except Delhi have the following stages:

Nusery, LKG, UKG and then Class I. But in Delhi it is the kindergarten stage is combined into 1 level so the child is being pushed to Class I at the age of 5 years. And you have stated that the coming generation is going to suffer if parents like me object to the age criteria of 3yrs for Nursery. But if you stick to your ridiculous policy anyways we all would see a drop in quality of performance by students in Delhi within a few years. You are forcing parents to send 3 years old   ( who are not independent in any activity) to schools . Are they toilet trained..NO; Can they eat without supervision NO? DO OUR SCHOOL BUSES AND VANS EQUIPPED WITH SEAT BELTS FOR TODDLERS ? NO! Can they understand multiple commands NO!

I think this is the largest democracy where every policy is such a farce that as parents we don't have the freedom to even decide about our own child. Nothing can be more sad than this!

@Geetali Saikia - Very Precious Words

Come these elections... I know whom not to vote for Mr Lovely.

The same drama every year and at the same time just before admissions coz they are busy stashing money instead of making timely policies.

Every year.. new policy.. new confusion.. Playing with the lives of tiny tots n causing unwarranted stress to the parents.

Edn Minister's words seems to be derived from my quote published in Hindustan Times way back in 2009.

It should definetly be 4+, a 3 year old kid is too small to take all the pressure as it is once the education starts then the kids continue to remain burdened through out the life let them enjoy atleast a few years.
