No seats left, parents head to NCR schools

New Delhi, March 10, 2015, DHNS

Some parents are now planning to apply to schools in National Capital Region after they were not able to get a seat for their children to nursery classes in Delhi institutions for the academic session 2015-16.

They said schools in NCR have plenty of vacant seats.

“In Delhi we could not manage to secure a seat for our son. So we are planning to apply to schools in Noida,” said Rohit Kumar (name changed).

“I have spoken to a principal of a school in Noida and he assured me that my child will be admitted to nursery class for sure as there are many seats vacant,” added the Mayur Vihar resident.

Even a child rights group said scores of parents are applying to schools in Gurgaon and Noida.

“The institutions in NCR have world-class facilities like temperature-controlled swimming pools, horse riding area, among other facilities. Parents staying especially in south and east Delhi who could not get admission in any school in the city are now taking admission in NCR institutions as most of the Delhi schools’ final list of candidates are out,” said Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery.com.

Many parents said despite applying to over 15 schools in Delhi, they did not get admission to a school.

“We applied to as many as 25 schools in the city but we couldn’t secure a seat for our child,” said Geetanjali Arora who is seeking admission of her four-year-old son.

“We are left with no choice but to apply to schools in Gurgaon. We can’t let our child’s one year to go waste just because he couldn’t get admission in Delhi,” said the Arjan Garh resident.

While others said the schools in NCR are too far for them to approach.

“We can’t even approach NCR schools as the institutions are too far off and the transport will burn a hole in our pocket,” said Sunil Bhardwaj, a government employee.

Dear Friends,

got a call from Red Roses public school to check whether we got admission or not. anybody seeking admission for their child can contact the school.

The sufferers are our innocent kids who will either have to compromise education/facilities or take the stress of travelling for more than an hour daily at the mercy of cab drivers.

I concur Dr asmita

I had consoled myself last year when my son didn't get admission in nursery that it would be an easier front for LKG admissions. Now I am totally lost without any hope. Being a doctor at AIIMS doesn't even get me through the gatekeepers at the schools.
