The Directorate of Education on Wednesday announced that parents from the EWS category did not need to submit original certificates in schools and did not have to show them to authorities at the time of admission. In a statement issued by the directorate, it was clarified that no school
would ask parents to deposit any certificates, including the income certificate.

Earlier in the day, CM Sheila Dikshit said the government would ensure that no child was denied admission to school.

Makes sense! Why ask to submit income certificates in original? They can ask for attested copies and verify against original

ALL facilities for EWS CATEGORY. Only they have the right to education and what about General category they dont have the right to education?? They cant put their child in good school (for ex. DPS) because they are not an alumini, they dont live nearby and most important they are not vote banks.
Bullshit!!!!!

@Anuj: So vote for the opposition! Nothing much that can be done about the current situation. Sheila madam has already claimed her Certificate of Excellence saying all this admissions problem is because of her Govt making the citizens more aware about the need for education of their children :))))! Happy Republic Day ..

My daughter name was short listed in The Indian School in gen category, but neither they inform me nor they write anything in their website regarding presence of any one during lottery.. so unfortuanetly i miss... after that i rush to the school on same day,, but vice- priciple mam said "it is understood"....

Nursery admission: HC verdict on ‘feeder class’ today

Express news service : New Delhi, Fri Jan 27 2012, 00:45 hrs

The Delhi High Court will give its verdict on Friday on whether nursery classes held in private unaided schools can continue to be the feeder class for promotion to kindergarten.

After having made clear that the age criteria of 3+ for admission to nursery was neither unreasonable nor violative of any statutory provisions, a division bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw will deliver the court’s final word to determine if the existing system of promotion to higher classes from nursery will continue.

The petition in the matter was filed by NGO ‘Social Jurist’, challenging the December 16 notification of the Directorate of Education (DoE) that laid down guidelines for admission in nursery for the current academic year.

While the petitioner had also challenged the 3+age criteria for admission, saying no formal education could start before attaining four years, the court had on January 6 made it clear that the age criteria was valid.

The court had said the only contentious issue was whether private schools in the city could be permitted to treat nursery as the feeder class for admitting children.

This, the court said, was an issue since there could be some parents who did not want to send children to nursery but were compelled to do so because of the existing practice of schools promoting children from nursery and not allowing horizontal admission into KG. During the hearing, the Delhi government told the court that nursery has to be treated as entry level for formal schooling.
