UPPER CUT OFF AGE - PARENTS FACING PROBLEM -AMAR UJALA
New Delhi: The Delhi Government's Directorate of Education (DoE) on Tuesday directed private schools to upload the criteria adopted for nursery admission for the academic year 2015-16, offering some relief to the parents.
"All managers of private unaided recognised schools in Delhi are hereby directed to upload their criteria adopted (including points, if any) on departmental website www.Edudel.Nic.In," stated a circular issued by Additional Director of Education Ashima Jain.
The schools have been asked to upload the information by January 3. As per the circular, the district DOEs shall monitor the uploading of the information by schools and ensure that the exercise is completed by January 3.
"Non compliance of the order shall be viewed seriously...," the circular stated.
On admission of children belonging to economically weaker sections (EWS), the DoE clarified that "food security cards issued by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Delhi should be considered as documentary proof for applying under EWS category in entry level classes of private school in Delhi, in addition to the income certificate issued by a revenue officer not below the rank of Tehsildar, BPL Ration Card or AAY Ration Card."
The DoE, in an another circular, directed the schools to display a single list mentioning the names in alphabetical order of selected general category and children belonging to EWS or Disadvantage Group.
To redress the grievances of parents of the EWS category children, the DoE in its circular offered a link on which parents may file complaints related to the admission process in nursery classes.
"This should be on the Directorate of Education's website www.Edudel.Nic.In at the link Grievances RTE Act-09. Written complaints can also be submitted to the respective District Deputy Directors of Education," the circular read.
Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery.Com, an online forum of more than 86,000 parents in Delhi, said this will offer some relief to the parents seeking admissions of their children in nursery classes.
Vohra had recently written a letter to Padmini Singla, Director of DoE, highlighting the problems faced by the parents.
"Several schools were coming with the list of selected children only for general category. As per DOE circular for EWS guidelines, it is clearly mentioned that school shall display children selected under freeship and general category under common list in alphabetical order indicating (G) against general category," said Vohra.
Also, Vohra in his letter to DoE said he had received complaints from parents belonging to disadvantage groups about schools not accepting food security card as valid document for income proof.

Thank you Ms Sakshi and team for all your support.
One of the schools in dwarka has started taking admission taking full payment upfront (admission fee+ qtr fee) and saying this is not refundable if we manage to find better school later. is there anyway to deal with such case? or is it normal to forgo almost 30K if we find other better school later?
There is one more concern.
Distance Criteria vs Residence Criteria.
Some schools are giving points based on name of area mentioned on Registration Form/Instructions. So, an area 1 KM away only is not listed but area 3 KM away is listed. Excuse given is that bus route is not available.
Since, General seats matter is under courts, nothing can be done about this.
Sad situation.

I totally agree with you.
GEN category has become a minority now.
High court and DOE are sleeping. They only work for EWS category.
Anuj n Ranjeeeta
You are right, as per unconfirmed sources DOE does not want to touch general cat as the case is sub judice and they are waiting for 15 jan .
Else after mr vohra letter where first point with all detail of legal points was on upper cut off ..why did not they come with general cat notice.
They are not at all concerned with gen cat plight.
