The Delhi education department has given schools a free hand in conducting nursery admissions yet again.
Guidelines for students under the general category will remain the same as last year as the education minister has kept his word and not changed anything. As per this year’s
guidelines, 25% of all seats will have to be reserved for students from the economically weaker sections. Out of the remaining 75%, a maximum of 20% may be reserved for the school’s management quota. The age criteria, which the Delhi High Court is reviewing, will remain the same.

Education minister Arvinder Singh said the Ganguly Committee’s recommendations are being followed when it comes to minimum age for admission to pre-primary.

“Pre-primary is one class before primary education. In Delhi, for schools that have both nursery and kindergarten classes, the age for admission is 3+. Whereas, for those schools that have only nursery, this age is 4+. We are following the recommendations,” he said.

Like last year, schools will be free to decide the criteria on which they will admit students. But all schools will have to follow the Right to Education Act guidelines. “No school will be allowed to ask any questions about salary or educational background of parents. Only in the case of EWS students, an income proof will be required. No schools will be allowed to screen or interview children or parents,” Singh said.
Last year, most schools had selected students on points for neighbourhood, sibling in same school, alumni, single parents and transfer cases. But there is some relief for parents who fail to fit in these categories. At least 15% of the seats will be filled through the lottery system.

The admission process for EWS students has, however, undergone a complete change.

The directorate of education has devised a common admission form for EWS students that can be downloaded from the website edudel.nic.in or collected from schools. The form will be completely free of cost.

The guidelines have elicited mixed reactions from parents.
“Parents have all expressed their disillusionment. The free hand to schools is not a fair move,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com a forum for parents

no, schools are bound to provide forms till the last date. however i would prefer to raid ;) schools at earliest to avoid any excuses that forms are finished, come tomorrow etc etc

@ kalpana Yes K R mangalam Gk and Sommerfields gave it on first day till 12.30-1 pm and then said it was over , the best part was the ad of the school opening admissions came the same day in papers

you should definitely plan for a week's leave minimum. normally they issue form only in 1st half...attack first come first serve kindof schools and most desirous first...
all the best.

Thanks a ton Sumit sir,Sakshi maa'm & Team AN.COM...to publish it here always on time and announcement of form start dates quite beforehand of this DOE circular.
But this time again DOE did not pay heed to the suggestions given to it by parents' forum like AN.COM regarding common admission form for General Category & a common selection criteria for all these pvt. school to follow...instead DOE is more concerned about EWS...and that is also good provided elite schools follow this dictum and not bypass as they did last year...
Flexibility given to schools regarding choosing their own dates for issuance & closure of admissions forms, non-standardisation of types/formats of documents required, screening of documents, criteria of selection, dates for displaying 1st, 2nd and/or waiting list will again create confusion in parents. Again they have to keep a tab on each and every school of their choice, being on their toes to keep up with the monotonous form filling process offline/online...
Nevertheless, the wait is half over...age criteria will also be clear on 21st in judgment of the Hon'ble court..so dear parents keep yourself prepared with all required documents as per last year's process as displayed here by AN.COM...and be regular on this Forum to keep updated...
All the best for coming days...
Bij:)

Thanks Bij sir , please spare some time in coming days to guide parents.

Well said Mr.Bij.

Firstly I should thank you for the work done by you which was incredible one regarding NCR admission process. I am really amazed by your detailed responses to each and every parents. Keep it up.

Yes as you mentioned schools are free to choose their own dates for issuance and closure of applications. Many big branded schools will take this point in their favour which is unacceptable. Parents who are very anxious to get an application in a good school would be really cheated. DOE should make sure that application forms are available to all parents till the last date and try to extend the time period from 12 days to 15 days. Anyway parents should try to get applications from schools in great demand first.

Yes Lathaa Ji you are right..it is DOE's duty to make forms available to all needy parents till the last date and for that it can force all affiliated schools to upload a form on its website or provide a link to it's site so that parents can get their respective forms downloaded from there if needed..
Lathaa ji..Thanks a ton for your selfless support year after year to we all parents of Delhi & NCR through this beautiful forum of Sumit sir & Saakshi maa'm.

There is one more question: Anyone can obtain the form by paying the desired amount, or do they give the forms to the parents only, and do we need to show certain documents while buying the form,

@kalpana ,its school specific like modern gives only to parents and some other schools with b.c and others without B.C to your clerk also

thanks you so very much for such a great help to parents Sakshi & team ....efforts more than worth recgnising for

@ Priyanka Thanks all efforts of Mr Vohra/Lathaaji /Mr Bij

SAKSHI,  please help me to chose between FRANK ANTHONY, LAJPAT NAGAR OR GREEN FIELDS , SAFDARJUNG ENCLASE
