ok.. I just got a call from a friend. He got a SMS from Gyan Bharti saying both parents should come to school tomorrow for document verification and interaction. The SMS came today afternoon for tomorrow's visit. Such a short notice!
Plus, both of us have the same points (dist: 40 and thats it!!). I didn't get any SMS. So obviously they are using some other hidden point system.

oh man.. I didn't expect this from Gyan Bharti.
Did anybody else get a similar SMS?

(Am posting this in a couple of discussions so more people see it)
actually i am quite infuriated by this , if they have to make a guidilines it should have been done before the admission process started.......how can they suddenly wake frm there slumber and make all together diff rules.....if these r the rules then majority of us have to seriously think abt homeschooling.......
in our case we r frm diff state though living in delhi frm abt 10 yrs....so obviously no alumini points, first child ,boy child ...no sibling points .no girl points,....pvt job ,non transferable....we lose there....only thing which we had was qualification and neighbourhood points....NOW if qualification is removed then only neighbourhood point ...and tht too all schools have diff marks for neighbourhood...no UNIFORM STANDARDS....some r giving max 40 points and some r giving max 20......so actually u r at the mercy of the school....and doe and can only hope tht ur neighbourhood school gives u 40 and if it doesnt then go bback to ur native place and may b u can get admission there.......and leave delhi coz u cannot secure admission for ur kid......
This is very bad.......we had chance only in those schools who have some points for parents' qualification.....as we have not studied in Delhi - so not Alumni, first child - no sibling, happily married - not single, touchwood child is healthy & active - not physically challenged, no transfer case....we both are working in good MNCs but not in govt. sector...now, tell me how we will gain points??????
Very disappointed to know this!!!
Already we parents' have such a big stress of our wards' admission...now, changes in these policies are creating more trouble for us.
At least you have a daughter. That makes it easier for you . Imagine if you had a son.

I am the mother of a 3 year old daughter who is born and till now brought up in Delhi. I am staying in Delhi for the last 7 years and my husband for many more years. We are from outside state of Delhi. . My husband is not in any transferable job or govt. job. She is our first child so no "sibling" point. We studied in other state so no "alumni" points.

Now that make us to sail in the same boat as "Delhite". I think the same thing is happening with lot more parents as me from other state. No school is favoring us for coming from outside Delhi.
I agree with you.

even i agree that the criteria decided by DOE is unfair for all those parents donot belong to delhi, have first child and are not in transferable jobs....rather it was only becoz of the educational qualification points that i was very hopeful for my child admission in schools like heritage
I also totally agree with Gaurav Chawla and Gunjan Vij. This is no time for DOE to wake up and bring such foolish guidelines when most of the activity is over and results are just 2 days away. But , no wonders, they could do this even after all the admission are finalised.
I believe they are over reacting to this and only adding up to the chaos.
Thanks to DOE that a child can get admission to a school only where his parents are allumni and has no rights left to seek admission to any better school.
And to top it up, if a child has no allumni parent, no sibling, no transfer, then he will not get admission anywhere. .........WOW.............
Schooling is also now becoming an inherited right.
If Parent Education and Profession has no meaning then allumni and transfer criteria should also be removed and everything should be left on Lottery System.
I THINK THIS WILL PROMOTE SCHOOL WRONG PRACTICE. TO GET ACCESS MORE DIFFICULT MORE MONY TO BE COLLECTED..Already we parents' have such a big stress of our wards' admission...now, changes in these policies are creating more trouble for us.DOE IS A SLEEPING ORGANISATION OF SCHOOL WONER.
I think the criteria or Alumni & sibling are discriminatory to children as they go against the child if the parents are not from Delhi. The maximum weightage should be given to vicinity.

The schools are manipulating alumni & sibling criteria to select children from a specific strata of the society thereby closing the gates on other children.

In other words this is the family tradition in a new form practiced in our schools.
Can the moderator clarify this issue. this is creating a lot of flutter. that to just a couple of days before d-day. we are worried now if this would mean that the admissions will be given based on the remaining criteria or will we have to redo the whole thing. fuguring out where we stand has also become difficult now since we do not know what the new criteria would be!
c tommorow hindustan times ..u will know all the implications !!

basically DOE has instructed all the schools to remove education/proffesion related points
two schools gyan bharti /blue bells have already changed but we dont know how many other will follow it !!

But Sumit this is really unfortunate, we are both professionals, working with MNCs but now we wont be able to get our child in a good school... then even the system of Sibbling does not make sense if we have our first child... I beleive that someone should raise voice for that too. Further distance, if I take the responsibility to provide safe transportation to my child and give a representation, school should ignore the distance criteria n select us... Infact one can challenge all these basis.
