NURSERY admissions in schools across the Capital will begin late for the academic year 2011- 12. With the admission process set to change in the wake of the Right to Education ( RTE) Act, the Delhi government has given schools more time to prepare and, hence, delayed the process till next year. The schools are expected to conduct admissions between January 1 and March 31 as opposed to the previous admission calendar of December 15 to March 31. The final guidelines on admission from the directorate of education are expected on December 7. Delhi education minister Arvinder Singh Lovely announced this after meeting school principals and other stakeholders on Monday. “ Everyone agreed that admissions should begin a little late as schools need more time to prepare for the new method of admission. The official directive will be issued on Tuesday after this decision is ratified by the cabinet,” Lovely said. The fresh rules — issued on November 23 – have rendered the points system followed by Delhi schools ineffective. According to the broad guidelines, schools have the freedom to evolve their own “ categorisation”, such as alumni and siblings. Parents’ education and professional background cannot be a category. The new method of admission ( draw of lots) has been tagged unfeasible by school principals and this was brought up at the meeting with the minister. All invited stakeholders have been given time till Thursday to send their suggestions to the education department. “ We made our concerns and suggestions known to the minister. The delay in admission process will allow the department to make the final guidelines,” said Jyoti Bose, principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road. “ Confusion among parents will continue until the government gives clear cut directions,” said Sumit Vohra, who runs the online portal admissionsnursery. com . Thanks Sumit sir & Sakshi maa'm to make all parents aware of the happenings of this ultimate countdown for Admissions2011-12.
i think once clear cut guidelines come from DOE in next week, schools will chalk out their own course within the stated framework and after 15th Dec, we parents shall have some clear views on the criteria of our preferred schools.
In one sense this gives ample amount of time to parents to be prepared and plan their schedule accordingly so that they don't miss out in collecting & submitting the respective forms.
Even after directions from HRD ministry for schools about not stressing on Parents' Education & Occupation, i don't think schools will abide by that fully and will surely find some means to inculcate these salient factors in their screening process.

Its of great help to us.
One thing I would like to discuss is that through out our country the age for nursery admission is 3 or 3+ as on 31st March if we have transferrable job then that means if we are shifting to delhi then we have to repeat the class again for no reason or if we are shifting outside delhi then we will have younger classmates which might create a problem.

I am going to US for 4 months from January to April. My kid is 3+, This time admission process is delayed till January...
i am confused ...did my child will get admission in any school in this circumstances...In this case what can we do... your guidance will certainly help me to take right decision... thankyou
