Dwarka school violates nursery admission rules, Hindustan Times | AN.com Parents Unmasks VIS Sec 10 Dwarka Flouting DOE Guidelines by starting Nursery Admissions and asking for Rs 2 Lac Donation

Dwarka school violates nursery admission rules

The Delhi government may still be more than a month away from declaring nursery admission guidelines but a top school in Dwarka has already begun the admission process.
Venkateshwar International School (VIS) Kids started selling forms for nursery admissions last month and began
interactions with parents last week in complete violation of the Directorate of Education (DoE) rules “All I want to know is how the school began its admission process when the admission guidelines have not been declared,” said a parent.

But this is not the only wrongdoing the school has been accused of. A number of parents have alleged that they were asked to pay a donation of R2 lakh to ensure their child’s admission.

“I was called for a meeting at VIS Kids on Sunday. The headmistress asked me and my husband about our occupation and whether our child went to a play school. We were clearly told that the interaction was for a management quota seat and if we wanted admission, we needed to pay Rs 2 lakh over and above the admission fee,” said Ranjana, a parent who first reported the matter on the parents’ forum www.admissionsnursery.com. A complaint in the matter has also been filed with the DoE.

The principal of the school however denied the allegations. “Since we do not fall under the parent school, which is the Venkateshwar International School, we thought we did not have to follow guidelines for nursery admissions. As for the allegations of demanding a donation, I categorically deny them. A frustrated parent misbehaved with me in school a few days ago and I think he has spread this rumour,” said the headmistress of the school, who did not want reveal her name.

Director of Education Amit Singla, meanwhile, made it clear that all schools conducting nursery admissions will have to follow their guidelines. “As for the allegations of donations in return for admission, we will investigate the matter,” Singla said.

Furthermore, the school has planned of 90 + seats to be filled by donation of Rs 2 lacs which i figured out from the follow up call received from VIS Kids yesterday. The total no of seats were 150 out of which 90 are management quota. How absurd is this.

Thanks Ranjana for helping the parent community . It was Mr Vohra Who made everything possible withe the help of Mallica :)

i went to purchase the admission forms yesterday morning and was told that no more forms were available .its left me really worried .are there no guidelines as where the schools will announce the beginning of the admission process e.g national newspapers etc , or a minimum number of days for which forms will be available. However after this chaos surrounding the admission process, i really don't think i will try this school at all .i really want to thank the parents who came forward with this information about the donations .If parents stop giving in to blackmail, the admission system will automatically become more fair , as schools will not have anything to gain by fiddling with list of selected candidates , kudos to the brave parents.

Snigdha ,All credit to Mr Vohra as he wanted parents to come forward and make parents community strong and credit goes to Ranjana and other parents too.

Also to ethical reporters like Mallica Johi from HT

Thanks Mr. Vohra for bringing this in kind attention of media.

Thanks to Mr.Vohra who brought out to prove that schools are business making organisation. I feel any profit making schools cannot deliver best education effectively.

Thanks to Ms.Ranjana our parent who brought this issue in our forum and appreciate her ideals who threw this school out of her wish list.

The situation of the principal is really pathetic who created an illusion about a parent who misbehaved who spread rumours. Let the case may be. But how come more parents came out with the same rumour in a week's time. The management and principal has brought the reputation down by their own.

At present play school point are abolished since a child cannot be subjected to any screening procedure how come they promote all those kids who are being selected in VIS kids to main school. Why a parent has to give a hefty sum of Rs. 2 lakh for a mere nursery admission?

Govt. should taken strict action to regulate all play schools and kindergardens.

Let us see what DOE's status of the complaint filed by Ms.Ranjana and how long it takes to take action.

@ Belamoure

No way check out the year for Vasant Vihar may be for last year is still on display. Rest all schools may be NCR schools.

Ok... But guys, i have to tell u that i have heard that all schools in dwarka ask for donations... The only school not taking donation in dwarka is the bal bharti school. Even dps dwarka asks... Dont understand why becoz other branches of dps do not. Maxfort, asked for donation for admission of my niece last year... Rs 35000 fo management quota (before lists came out) and rs. One lakh once the name came in merit list... Luckily she got admission in bal bharti...

My son has to get admission this year and would be great if this whole donation racket is busted...

VIS asks for donations ... My friends child also had similar experience where the head mistress asks 2.5 lks as donations .. and now they say frustated parents misbahved ..
